Hey all I got an xB with 10000 miles and i jsut took it to chicago from detroit and i couldnt get it higher then 105.... light load and with me and my fiance... anyone know if the xB has a governor? whats the highest anyone took an xB or an xA???

Haven't had our xB up that high yet. Not sure if hamsters will run fast enough. I use a handheld computer in my suburban to adjust the top speed setting in the car's chip. Most newer cars with chips will start to limit gas flow to the engine at a certain speed.

Don't know about the xa/xb. My mom owns a 2001 Toyota echo, if im not mistaken it's the same 1.5 liter engine thats in your xa/xb I got it to go 115 stock.

You posted in the Tread & Butter forum which deals with tires/rims. It was a question dealing with power hence why it was moved to the Power hungry forums so you would get better responses to your thread. It was done in favor to help you get a response to your question. Now as far as a governor goes, pretty much every car produced now has a rev limiter. I doubt you hit the rev limiter on the car cause you would know it if you did. Ive seen xB's hit around 120-125 mph downhill but thats tops, anymore than that and your gonna hit that rev limiter and be powerless for a couple of seconds ahahahaha.

Yea, mine was capable of hittin around that w/ the turbo but you really dont wanna be doin that much in an xB, they didnt have those triple digit numbers in mind when they picked out the gearing ratios lol.

This has been talked about before. Cant really offer up much help as I have not drove that fast. The ECHO ecu has a gov @ 112mph, it seems the xB does not. We have a shorter tranny gearing. Doing some simple math, if Im at 4000rpm @ 80mph, then Im at 5000@100 & 6000@120. So the xB tops out at a mechenicaly limited top speed of about 126 depending on if you have enough tail wind & horse power to keep everything turning that fast. I dont really see toyota putting a cap on a top speed that is that lower when compared to cars that can do over 150.

from what i have undestood, there is no limiter and i believe this is true, Ive gotten my Xa up to about 110. It was stock, and took about forever, I dont normally drive that fast, but i have some new goodies on that will prolly help me get there faster, but i dont hink im going to try it.

I got my xA up to like 105, but there was traffic, and I couldn't get around it to go faster. It takes a while to get up there.
These aren't very fast cars, so mayby you just didn't wait long enough to get it past that. My previous car was a Mitsubishi 3000gt (engine blew) that had no problem accelerating at speeds over 100. I got that up to 138. So this is a big difference.

btw... I hate ppl who post in these kinds of threads like "you shouldnt be going that fast, thats dangerous." Instead if you have a comment like that you should just not post.

and 105 you must have an Auto tranny. or live at high elevation.

I have had the box only up to close 100mph....I don't feel safe at that speed in the box....and I have driven many cars past 150mh+ that could handle the speed..when I update the suspension I'll see how it feels then...

I read somewhere in this forum that the xB is governed at either 105 or 108. Can't remember where I read it. Car and driver also once did a write up on the xB and they did 0-100mph results, something like 35-40 seconds. lol Not that it matters. :P

my 0-100 is much better than 35-40 seconds lol. sucks for stockies. and they ARE NOT governed......

I was behind an xB on the interstate once when we were coming back from, I forget where. Anyway as we approached a downhill slope he sped up and got up to 110 before the ground levelled out again.

118mph is the fasest i've gone in the box... It felt pretty firm for what it is...

the 1nz can use the auto in us versions , echo 5spd , scion 5spd , trd gears , and the awd transaxle.
it can not use the echo 5spd. it has different mounting tabs.
you can use the gears from the echo 5spd.
