If anyone wants their face done as their avatar, post it a picture and I will take care of it for you.

I know I have my wife for mine, and she has mine for hers, but you get the picture. :silly:

It is a good idea though, helps people put a name with a face. :D

the Gadwin Printscreen I always harp about is wonderful, free and does compress to any degree required to just squeeze under that silly 6k file size.

Lookie. Adjust size and compression in the "Image" tab of Gadwin's properties folder.
the one thing I can't "screenshot" are the tabbed folder pages of property adjustments.

(working on samples)

Jere could get the crop but it's still too large a file size at 18k:

now I'll just 'photograph' it with my Gadwin program.
I'll first set the gadwin to captire "rectangular area" (meaning, press the print screen button, mouser cursor, drag that to make the desired framing.) Then click "enter" and it's done. Employ jpg compression in increasing percentage until the portrait just slips under the 6k limit.

compressing an already compressed tiny pic softens its detail a bit

98 percent "original quality" was the closest I can get to 6k. Am under the limit by a fat margin. 5.3k. This will fly and it's a great face again. Thank your mother please. :clap:

I can try. Need:

-direct link to the exact picture (PM me)
-The present avatar you have is about ideal

-when you put two heads in one avatar they get a lot smaller (each one I mean)
and so it's pretty important you have your head right up against your wife's head.

-I can't edit pictures (like do cut outs and paste heads next to each other) Tomas could do that and so can others. I'm pretty limited in skills.

But say, I do like your present avatar face. It's hot. Another idea: Put a link to your fav wife/you picture in your sig line with a slogan say like: " me and my mate" something like that. Peeps love to look at others especially couples. Then they see a full quality image of your most important aspect: you and her together in a wholesome, legible way.

the size limit is the problem here. I dont have the ability (if it is possible) to make it work. my results are either way too small to see it and/or the quality sux.

and this is with working on the first one (not as active) if that one isn't working, I doubt the other one will be any better. (it has a lot more action going on)

I'm using After Effects Pro 6.5, though it is a pretty expensive program, maybe someone has a different program that can do what is needed?

Again, I do not see why in this day and age SL is adhearing to 1995 standards for avatars. We could have much nicer avatar possibilities with a bit more bandwidth. Avatars go to cache in PC's don't they? Aren' they a one-load deal for regular users? Likely I don't fully understand but.... c'mon! 6K is smaller by far than most other forums allow.

youse squashed his head in a letter press! :P I am guessing you did not select "maintain aspect ratio".

I use gadwin screenshot and crop with its "rectangular area" drag and click feature,
de-select "maintain aspect ratio, and save it to "80x80" pixel area. The selection made will be 80 x 80 only if I have dragged out a pefect square. Otherwise it will be 80 only on its maximum-length side.

bottom line: don't press a soldier's head. He might get ____ed at ya for that!
