Since the TRD SC is finally released (checks calendar) only a year late...
How many of us on ScionLife plan on actually getting this thing...

Its great really, i mean can't beat 50 state legal warrantied F/I.. but it is also really expensive for the power gains.

Heck yeah, I've been waiting for that thing for over a year, but still can't afford it yet, lol. I just want extra power I don't have to think about too much, don't have time or space to be slapping on a turbo. Plus the whole warranty thing is kinda important. :P

It's been officially released? Last I heard was they were estimating an october ship but no concrete info had been given. If ppl have these, let's get em dynoed to see if toyota is downplaying the numbers like dodge did with the '03 srt-4s. I really hope that's the case, cause 15ft/lbs torque and 37crank hp is way too little for roughly $3500, even with the added warranty protection.

I already did this kind of poll almost a year ago.

man i dunno, but i think my scion dealer dosen't know anything. I went down there yesturday to talk to him about finally trying to get my tC, and he told me that they pulled it back again. Just my two cents, but if someones already got it let me know.

i would love to get one, but its quite a lot of money. it also bumps my gas to 91 oct, and will probably kill mpg as well. i sold my turbo eclipse to have better relyability and better gas mileage. i will still have the relyability of toyota, but my mileage will go down, probably as low as my eclipse, for what? a little more oomph? i dont even race this thing.

i read that the tC S/C was designed to have a low impact on fuel economy.

I want to know the dyno numbers too, No way i'm payiing that much for little power. now if it gives me 200 whp, that's another story. Then I would say yes, i would buy one, then i can put new headers, intake, exhaust system. hoping to get it higher, that would be so nice.

+1.....also want to know how tamper proof it is. All it will take is swaping a pulley if possible and hooking up a A/F meter to see how much more it can do before going lean. One or two day project by an expert and we shall know. Then the fuel impact will be the final straw on deciding.

Yeah, I'm gonna wait for some numbers as well. I think TRD is high quality, but I have a feeling that they stayed away from its full potential, given that it's still good under warranty. But I might be surprised when I see the numbers. Also depends on, like someone said above, how tamper-proof it is. Until all this comes out, I'm still leaning towards N/A or ZPI Stage 0.

im 95% getting it as of this post. I figure I store my tC for winter, so I wil lsave a little extra $, my bday is in march, so more $, and by then I will hear all the feedback on it, and how it is, and possibly drive one from the dealer or a local to help me make it 100% I want to make sure its worth it to some sense. Sure 40 hp is nice, but the 15tq seems to be crappy for that much $. Im anxious to see numbers of it on w/ header/exhaust, and also what the dealers gonna charge to install the thing! I just thinks its dumb to release it on the break of winter for us that get snow...

ummm...isn't gasoline a volatile substance? I mean, it does make the internal COMBUSTION engine work. Anyway, I bought the tC expecting to add the supercharger later on when my budget allowed. Yeah, it's not a whole lot of power for the money, but I'm expecting the aftermarket to help add more power.

200 bhp does seem a little low, but it should make a decent amount more with an exhaust and header. Maybe there will be a way to custom route the intake to be a cold air too.

I'm going ZPI turbo. It's cheaper for one, and makes more power. I don't find it too logical to spend $3500 on a supercharger that suppose to only make 40 more hp. And then spend MORE money on aftermarket stuff to make it push out more ponies to bring it up to par with the turbo equipped TC's. You would have spent probably twice the money to get the same numbers as a T-TC.
All I know is, for that price, that 200hp better be at the wheels.

27 people is not a lot ;)
Let's say only 1/10 of "enthusiasts" who will get the SC visits SL - still not a lot.

too bad, there is a tamper proof guard on the pulley, according to the official installation instructions...

Hey guys, help out a newbie. Doesn't the ZPI turbo void your factory warranty?

my guess is that a lot more people will buy brand new tCs and grab the TRD sc once it is finally released.
people who frequently visit here may not be as inclined to getting one since we have been bombarded by "TRD sucks" and "get turbo" threads.
on another note, just because the pulley on the sc itself is supposed to be tamper proof does not mean higher boost will not be possible. there are a few different ways to get more boost. we will just have to wait and see what the aftermarket does. where there is a will, there is a way.

I honestly think the TRD supercharger will produce more than they say. Maybe not by a whole lot, but I'm fairly certain it will (or at least should).
The tamper proof pulley is already being figured out for the new Cobra (and its a year away lol) for changing... so I'm sure someone can figure out a way to change it out. Also, pulley changes are quick and if you had to take it to the dealer for some normal maintenance you could swap it back.
Although... you should pay if you over boost the car. Not Toyota's fault lol

I think its a dealer installed option, so dealers might not have any to test drive, but if they do, then im sure its going to be priced alot more money and theyll give you a hard time about test driving it.
