havent seen much in my area

back in the day, when i first got mine ( in june of 2003) i used to wave at everyone, but now that everyone has them, they don't wave back as much, so i just flash my lights or beep at them. :wink:

I used to wave and/or honk.. but lately the kids that are running with mods just run to catch up to me, then run past me revving high. :?

It's times like this I miss Subaru community. Everyone was so tight. All the WRX owners acknowledged and greeted each other. It sounds geeky. But, it didnt' matter! geeky looking ones, cool looking ones, everyone was happy that there are people who understood the cool factor of little subie's all wheel drive tour-de-force.

When I got a Civic Si, I thought Civic community will be bunch of ricers. But, to my surprise, Evryone was very into cars and although not as tight as Subaru community, it was really cool to be part of Si community.

Now I have Scion. And I thought this will become the tightest community ever. I mean... what other cars like this exist in America? The owners of Scion have to be a uniques bunch of people who understand what it means to be different.... That was my thought. Ah... but, to my surprise, I have yet to meet a Scion owner who are happy to see another fellow Scion driver. How wrong I was!!!! Most of Scion people I met on the road gives you that weird look when I wave at them. They are more busy checking out what kind of mod I have on my car.... as if they are comparing if they have more. A lot of times, they don't even acknowledge me!!! And through this forum, I have a feeling that a lot of Scion buyers and people who are interested in Scion are more into looks and being different than having a sense of belonging to a community or learn about cars. I say this with full benefit of doubt to Scion owners... I know that neither Xa or Xb was born to be a performance tuners car. I know that they were specifically marketed after people who want something different. But, I believe this desire in people to be too different is what's causing all this unfriendliness.

Oh well.... so.... How about if we come up with Scionlife.com only salute! Not something that involves two hands sign like that gang sign... (blood... is it?). How about just opening index and middle finger to salute? (oh wait, that's same as the middle finger gesture in England)

man... i havent even seen another scion but one xA... just one can you believe it but when i saw him we both gave a big wave and smile and to me it felt pretty cool but yall are lucky to even get to see other scions at norm... ive heard about them popping up everywhere where i live but i have yet to see one maybe its cause i have one. i hope the people around here will be enthusiatic and at least wave back

very well said.i also have yet come acrsoss another scion owner who has waved back or has beeped back when i have :cry: :( :cry: but yesterday on my way home i was stoped at a red light and along side me pulled up a HOT LAVA i was soo excited i have never seen one in person so i waved hi and he atleast smiled at me :lol:

I've seen 2 xb's in san marcos and one xa on I-35 on my way into San Antonio. Both xb drivers were pretty up there in age(no doubt the result of the sales practices of our scion dealer, my friends and I were completely ignored for well over 30 mins, which is when we hit the flashers/honked the horns on the demo, in favor of some middle age customers) and driving around with smug looks on their faces. And the xa's tint was too dark for me to see them.

usually if we make eye contact I'll usually smile and give a friendly wave or peace sign. Usually they'll wave back, ive received a couple odd looks from older folks with scions, but for the most part they'll wave back. i saw 2 guys yesterday with moded xBs one in the Los Alamitos area and the other when i was on my way to work on the 5 south sittin in traffic. my car looks kinda rice right now though, i got some new wheels and the fronts dont fit over my brake callipers and i didnt find that out till i had already put on the rears. so i am running 2 of my new wheels in the back and stockies in the front. heres a pic of my new wheels.

I was driving to work last week and I saw a white xA...i passed him on his right and he didn't see me...no biggie...i just kept driving. Well after I was like 6 cars ahead I see him jump into another lane speeding to catch up to me. He pulled up next to me and started honking and waving. I smiled and waved back. It was pretty cool. Good times, good times.

dont hold your breathe man... if they take off like they did in CA then you wont have a problem finding a scion at least once a day. but good luck

I've had my xB for a couple of months. I think I was the first in Detroit.
I have been seeing several on the road lately. I pulled up next to another xB last week. I was expecting that we would roll down our windows and tell each other how cool our cars are. I waived and the guy looked at me like I was crazy. I had expected every Scion owner to be as freindly as the posters on these boards.

Usually a couple of honks on the horn! But seriously, there are sooo many out here now in LA, I'll probably won't do that for much longer...:twisted:

It's a 50 / 50 chance of getting it back...

Usually if it's on the freeway I let them cut in, make room, and enjoy a lil mini mini cruise...

I commute to Santa Barbara from Camarillo. I see the same three Scions on the way to work each day. I flash my lights at them, and they return the greeting.

I usually look at the driver, and wait for him to look back. Just smile and give a "sup" nod. Not many in my area, only saw two, a blue one and white one. Know there are a few on this forum from MD/VA.

Well I usualy wave my PeePee at people on the road... but the police man didnt like that...so I have to resort to a wave and Yelling and throwing crap at people... maybe because I have yet to see a Scion while I was in mine.. people look at me funny when im waving at them from a bright yellow lexus when they are in a xA or xB... they prolly think ive lost it.. I kinda look like ive lost it a few times... ANyhow I ride sport bikes... and as a comunity almost all riders wave harley, sport bike, BMW, no matter just it us against the cages... First time I ever seen comrodery in a car was Jeeps... I guess you have a special insight with other "Jeepers" on what i BIOTCH it is to unzip your friggin window while driving to pay a toll... and how much you sacrafice to drive a Jeep..

i've seen three xb's in town. i don't even look for xa's b/c i think they are ugly as ____ and whoever bought one has got to be crazy. so i try to avoid making eye contact in fear of my life. :lol: but out of the three xb's i have seen neither one of them showed me any kinda love. their ____s was stock anyway. but anyway if your in the wilmington area and see a hotlava show me some love by just brushin yo shoulders off like a P.I.M.P. b/c thats what i'mal do when i see you. holla
