Would a subwoofer sound better facing up, down forward or backward in a tC. I have a 15 inch Thunder 8000. Just want to design a box for the best sound. Thank you.

They are mounted in a box that is slightly slanted. With a 15 I think I might lay it on it back facing up for full effect, just my opinion. John J_A_Trevino 10-04-2005, 02:06 AM towards the rear or at least angled to the rear 05_camo_boxb 10-04-2005, 02:54 AM ive tryed all the ways in my xb ..one way then sat down to hear and feel...i felt that the speaker facing the roof sounded and pounded the best....ive got a rokford fosgate 12 with a 1,000 kenwood amp... -Keith- 10-04-2005, 02:56 AM just point the cone up mal75 10-04-2005, 03:38 AM Face them to the rear. -Keith- 10-04-2005, 03:42 AM if u flush it in or build any custom as long as its pointing towards the glass the sound will be amplified.... my 10w3 hits so hard and its so under powered. mandos 10-04-2005, 03:46 AM Back or up...as to which was better...I cant really decide... J_A_Trevino 10-04-2005, 04:05 AM ive ran mine on the mic and yielded better sound and higher numbers facing subs and port towards the rear popalock85 10-04-2005, 06:16 AM ive ran mine on the mic and yielded better sound and higher numbers facing subs and port towards the rear I agree with Jesus..... In a tC if you build it to bounce off of the glass into your cabin you will not be disappointed at all. It's the perfect way to go. If you have the resources get you and a friend to hook up something temporary and test which angle sounds the best if you know what I mean. The person that built my box suggested that I face my subs to the top rear corners of my box where it's the most soild because if I were to have the bass bounce off the glass like I suggested above my hatch glass wouldn't last that long. Ericvpellegrino 10-04-2005, 04:36 PM Thanks yall much help I will do that. When I get it done with pics I will post them. So i say rear. J_A_Trevino 10-18-2005, 03:54 AM ive ran mine on the mic and yielded better sound and higher numbers facing subs and port towards the rear got my new sub today and it rocks facing up for some reason i will have to mic it and get back to yall -Keith- 10-18-2005, 01:48 PM ive ran mine on the mic and yielded better sound and higher numbers facing subs and port towards the rear Everyone needs to remember this if for a tC glass will bounce the sound... Hitting the glass is the best way. xB's yea towards the rear is the best hits the wall and goes back. Sounds cleaner too. edlin 10-18-2005, 09:51 PM In my experience it is best to point the subs away from the driver so that you hear the speaker sound and not the cone sound. The only reason to have your magnets outside a box is to increase air space inside the box. In that case, it would be best to have the cones out of line of sight so you dont hear the non-music sounds speakers sometimes make. |
