Default Sponsorships

We recently went to Nopi Nationals in Atl. And on a whim, I had my g/f fill out the Carsponships.com application. We recieved an e-mail back from a rep, and he told her that he has found a shop that will sponsor us, and that he just needed to get a few more questions answered. Then he gave a link to the questionare, but my g/f said the site was requesting like $80 for the sponsorship. So, she didn't fill it out yet. Then she recieved another e-mail from the guy, wondering if we were going to fill it out. I told her to e-mail him back directly to get some more details on the whole sponsorship and the shop that's going to be our sponsor. Just wondering, what you guys thoughts on this was.

Try doing a search for carsponsorships.com - you shouldn't have to pay for a sponsorship, but what you're most likely going to get are decals and discounts on overpriced products... Very rarely does anyone get anything else.

hey if you want to promote the lesser desired products, pay the $80 and slap some decals on that ride.

Ya, Breakaway was one of the very few that got lucky with them and got a full ride.

Otherwise its a complete waste of money.

This isnt the way it always works either. Sponcership takes time no matter how u go about it.

When I originally bought my Eclipse back in 97 it was a hot and upcoming car. I put together a packet with my plans for the car, drawings of how i wanted the car to look, other companies I wanted to work with, and shows I planned to attend in the next 2 years. I sent this packet to 14 Companies. After a long 6 month span of emails, letter, and talking to reps, I ended up with 5 of the companes willing to back me and my car under alot of conditions. Worth it? Well it was once the parts started coming in. But I dont think as a small time guy ill ever go threw it that way.

Now the other route u mentioned. We was able to get a few companies by buying items and then getting with the companies. Case in point, on my wives cavalier we had audiobahn equipment and Sparco Speed seats with a bomex body kit on it and a few other items on the car. We sent pics in on the car and equipment from numerous shows and in the end Sparco Sent up the new Torino 2 Seats and Audiobahn sent up all new equipment, but we had to pay to have it installed. This way I prefer, because u are leaving it in the companies hands to weither ur car is worthy of Sponcership instead of almost having to beg for it.

My g/f said that in the e-mail sent to her, they had already approved us for a Full sponsorship. If anyone else can give me some more insite into this, that would be great. I know you have to sport the companies decals and wear their clothing. But anyone know exactly how many shows I would have to attend, or what about traveling distance? I live in TN, and don't want to be traveling all the way to CA just to fulfill my obligations.

Yes they tell u that you have full sponcership. This scam went down fora couple people on the SRTForums I am also part of. The way it worked for them was they got 12 grand in sponcership "money". Nothing Cash at all. They had like 6-7 companies they where "sponcered" threw. But when you ordered from the company u would get like 5 percent off and then that amount would get deducted from your 12 grand total u started with. So in the end all the sponcership ends up being is discounts to companies. And you have to pay 80 down to get that.

some sponsors work out... some sponsors back out when youre half way done... I got a sponsorship from $%$%^$%$ and they gave me a widebodykit, lights, springs. they scratched my bumpers and gutted out my fenderwells... I had to put it back together... w/ little to no fenderwells... at least I got some stuff... but is it really worth the trouble you're going to go thru to make your car back to normal??
