TORRANCE, Calif., Oct. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Toyota Motorsports and Scion
announced today the Scion tC sports coupe will be the new official vehicle of
the Toyota Pro/Celebrity Race. The 2006 Pro/Celebrity Race celebrates the
30th anniversary of this charity event held annually as part of the Toyota
Grand Prix of Long Beach Race weekend. It also marks the first time in the
race's history that a vehicle other than Celica will be featured.
"Being such an integral part of the Pro/Celebrity race and the Toyota
Grand Prix of Long Beach is a great opportunity for Scion and the tC," said
Mark Templin, vice president, Scion. "The tC will be right at home and able
to showcase its performance capabilities on the historic street course."
The race-ready, identically-prepared tCs will produce 170-horsepower at
5,700 rpm. They will be equipped with performance enhancements that include a
DC Sports stainless steel exhaust and ceramic header, Centerforce single-disc
racing clutch, Progress Technology racing coil-over shocks and springs,
Stop-Tech brakes and full roll cage.

Sweet. That's big advertising for Scion. I wonder how many of those "race-ready" tCs will be up for sale afterwards?

I thought Toyota was pulling away from the Toyota Atlantic Series? I wonder what the safety/pace car is going to be? More likely a tC but with what inside? Hmmm, a tC with a 2.5L V6 from the IS250 converted to RWD? Or maybe an IS250 chassis and powertrain underneath a Scion tC skin?

Maybe a Solara as usual. If they are gonna have tCs I am really gonna have to go!!

Not a big surprise, really...they've been using Celicas for years now. Cool, none-the-less.

why are they using a 15w50 as motor ? anybody know why??
I'm sure it's because Redline is helping to pay for the event, etc.
I'd only run it because it's synthetic. I'd never use a 15W unless it was. Engines nowadays are built to tighter tolerances and REQUIRE a lighter oil.

Some "aero package"...a Kaminari wing...big deal.
I was hoping for a full kit...
And what's with that terrible orange? I suppose the other cars will have blue and green and red and yellow...YUK
Everything else looks pretty good. I just hate thinking about tinseltown's finest wrecking such nice cars. :ponder:

i found the engine bay to be surprising. since i wanted to see the elusive aem intake in person. to my surprise, i didnt see an aem intake.
the progress coilovers are impressive. i like them. the progress sway bar and endlinks were interesting as well.

...sway bar and endlinks were interesting as well...
Agreed. Maybe I'm just an ole fart, but I've never seen an adjustable link pin...much less one with a bend in it... Strange :eyebrow:
I like the brakes. Wheels are OK, but I think they should have used something other than BBS. (Aren't they a bit played out by now??)
Everything else looks great. Looks like it'll be a lot of fun.

Toyota uses BBS on a lot of their cars like that. They used em on the Celicas, Solara Pace Cars and others.
