Default Sport Compact Car Scion tC Suspension Guide

Novembers issue of SCC has an article explaining how to install major suspension mods. On the skidpad the stock tc went around at a .82g's. AFter the suspension mods, it shot up to .91g's, the speed went from 66.1 went up to 71.9mph which is just .4mph slower than the EVO MR they tested.

Pretty cool article if you guys wanna read up on it.

They used PROGRESS group coilovers, Hotchkis sway bars (front and rear), Hotchkis rear camber links, and i forgot what rims and tires.

The wheels and tires were:

5Zigen FN01R-C 17x7 w/ 48mm offset
Kuhma Ecsta MX

They also had the hotchkis strut brace.

All told about 3k worth of suspension upgrades. Good performance numbers. I believe their car has an AEM intake (that's what they say) and the TRD exhaust as their only performance upgrades.

Yes the Progress Coils kick butt on the tC. That is why we sell them. Not to mention, you can have them valved for daily driving, auto-x, drag or road race out of the box for FREE from us!!

nice...people dont realize how important this is, you can have the most expensive shocks in the world..but if they are not valved for what type of driving you do, you will be disapointed , and possibly blame the shocks themselves.

This is why we're doing a full Progress conversion over the winter. The support they offer for true racing applications is almost limitless.

Can you:

1. Adjust compression and rebound damping independently without disassembling the shock?

2. Adjust ride height independent of spring preload?

3. Adjust high speed compression independently of low speed compression?

4. Same for rebound?

5. Rebuild the shocks at home as long as you have a nitrogen bottle to pressurize them?

If you can't do this, then they're not significantly better than any other offering out there, and they're significantly less capable than almost any motorcycle shock available. Having road raced motorcycles for a bit, I'm pretty convinced car guys get screwed for dampers on a daily basis compared to bike riders.
