Being very picky about people touching my car's paint, even myself.
I have noticed that there is very few ways to close the rear door/hatch whatever you want to call it,without touching the body of the car.
I usually close it by swinging it down with the handle and then lightly closing it with the licsense plate.
I just cant stand to slam it shut.
So how do you close yours??

I try to close it with the handle on mine but that little button is very sensitive and it doesn't close so I have to lightly slame it!

I use the handle to get some downward momentum built up, and since the door is pretty heavy you don't need much then, I make sure to put my hand on the plate (mostly to keep it from rattling) and use a bit more pressure to drop it closed all the way. Works pretty good, too  IMHO!

I've been thinking about getting the bottom two screws drilled to make the rear plate less prone to rattling tho...

I couldn't vote because you don't have my choice there. I use the handel and then I push it close with the base of the rear wiper. You know the part at the very bottom that moves the wiper blade.

i put my hand on the license plats so that i don't get any finger prints on my girl. it doesn't matter though b/c everytime i leave a parking lot there are face prints hand prints all over here. i swear a dude had been eating doritos the other day when he touched my girl, she had grease and cheese all over her.

you guys do know that there is an actual handle at the base of the door RIGHT? i use that one and just give it a little tug and it shuts itself. i used to shut it with my hand on the licence plate until i found that handle.

i try to use the handle and let it close itself, but sometimes it doesn't close completely so i end up having to open it up again and slam it shut.

xB doors seem to be somewhat variable. Mine closes very nicely by just pulling it past the "equilibrium point" and then letting it close by itself. I don't touch anything except for the inset handle in the base of the hatch.

Same here, let gravity work for me, and no nose/hand prints here.

After I got my xB home and took off the cheesy license plate frame from my dealer I realized that the plate was going to rattle, but more importantly, the rattle came from the plate hitting the body. I had my first mission and went to my local walmart in search of a plate cover that would encapsulate the entire plate but turned up nothing. So, for plan B I ended up some small rubber pads used when mounting glass top tables. They are cheap, self adhesive and invisible when mounted behind the plate. I have had them for a couple months now and they work like a charm. They come in a package of 20 or so but you only have to use 2 at a time, so even is they weather after a year its no biggie.

on my xB, it worked the same as George says, but i always kept the front door open and it works even better due to the rear door pushing so much air when closing....

Yanges - your using past tense - did you get your PW xB sold on ebay? It looked like a great price, sorry you had to sell - it looked very sweet, I checked out all your pics the other day.

MINe was rattling really loud cuz of the bass, but i got a "Dynamat Licence plate rattle kit" from FRY's for like 20 bucks. it came with a big peice of dynamat for the licence plate, and a licence plate frame (like the one you were looking for) and some strips of sticky foam to put inbetween the plate and the frame. VOILA problem solved. pretty cool for only 20$

Twice, I always had to close mine twice when I first got it. Then I learned to leave a front door open and let gravity do the rest.
Fingerprints on the glass is the casuality of being unique and different, everyone wants to take a look inside.
Now if I could only keep the cats off it at night and eliminate the paw prints I'd be in xB-heaven.
