Just ordered 2 of the 12" CCFL kits from Oznium.

1 for teh front foot wells, the other for the back.....or

I might add them to the front of the hood, wired threw a press switch so when you open the hood they come on.

But I'm curious, how much power do these things eat?

Am I likely to suck my battery dry in 20 minutes while doing noctural engine improvements?

Any other thoughts on this as an idea?

i don't think they draw very much at all.

You wouldn't want to leave you hood open for a week or anything, but you should be fine for power. Those don't eat very much battery. Go for it, and be sure to post pics when you are done.

Just popped out at lunch and brought a packet of pin switches.

Should be very easy to wire, and these ones close the loop when they go up, so I'll just straight wire the CCFL's with the switch in the loop.

Find (or drill) a suitable sized hole. The pine switches are mounted in a bolt so just instert at suitable depth and off we go.

This weekends project scheduled.

Oznium_com, who represents Oznium.com on ScionLife, says a kit takes up about half an amp of current: "Each cathode kit draws about half an amp of current. It is recommend that you use a 2 to 3 amp fuse for 1 to a few kits"

Kits' coming from him, so that's good to hear - just got my email saying they shipped.

So as long as the current NE rain isn't a 60 days and 60 nights, time to build an ark affair, I'll be installing - with pictures then.

Just got to work out if I want to go two across the front edge, or one down each side, hmmmm.
