last week i got my Hotchkis springs installed! i went today to get an allignment and let me say they didnt finish the job, my steering wheel is still off! More than it was before i took it in? im taking it back tomorrow morning to get that fixed! Anyways dont focus on the wrong part of the story here. I asked the guy there if i would need the camber links cause i have some neg. camber. he said no!? :question: after i got the allignment i saw that there was still neg. camber? any thoughts on this? please post!

The tC has some -camber from the factory, so they are probably still in spec. Just because it's lowered doesn't mean you HAVE to have the camber links.

And as for the alignment, did you tell them that your wheel is off when you brought it in? Your car can still be aligned properly but the wheel off-center. Ask them to correct it. Likely a tierod or something.

yea i did tell them, they said they had ordered a cable thats why the wheel is off cause of a bad cable and i need to go back in tomorrow to get it fixed? they should of told me before they did it so i would know my wheel would be off. Will the neg. camber still eat up my tires? i dont want to replace them sooner than usuall?

As long as you had them aligned and they say they're still within spec, your tires should be OK. Just be sure to have them rotated on schedule with your mileage.

Camber doenst affect tire wear...toe in/out does. A little nag camber will improve handling and it looks kinda cool too.

If you look at some of the other threads about suspension, youll see it posted many times by guys like Dr Isotope, lo_bux_racer and raamaudio who know their sh!t that camber wont wear out tires.

yea it does look kinda kool, i can tell a difference, but it also looks like it could mess up the suspension bad? it looks awkward? IDK just me!

i want to get the Hotchkis sways pretty soon but ive read that the front sway bar is having issues with the front suspension? their not getting along? IDK if Hotchkis fixed this yet? IDK if getting just the rear would feel too right? also on the front strut bar could you tell a difference in handling? IDK EXACTLY whats its supposed to do but it makes the engine bay look a little better? does it keep the chasi in one place? let me know fellas!......................and ladies?

The neg. camber wont hurt the suspension at all.

As far as the rear swaybar, it will help the car a lot, but if you go with hotchkis, you should probably use the softest setting as it is much stiffer than the stock piece. I use the TRD rear bar on the stiffest setting with stock suspension and have noticed a nice improvement and makes me really want to install my TRD springs (waiting on my TRD shocks :tap: ).

The srtut tower brace does add some front end stiffness which helps under hard cornering to keep the front end from flexing too much. I dont have one in my tC, but in my Z28 Camaro, it also made the ride kinda harsh. Not sure if that happens with the tC though.

As for being able to see the Sway bars, you won't be able to see them unless you are under the car. Sway bars are not eye candy like some other asthetec mods. Sway bars are performance enhancing products. I can hardly wait to get mine from Mcgeorge.

THERE is no CABLE! It is fixed by adjusting the tie rods, both have to be turned to align the wheel, not cable anywhere in the suspension, period, never heard this one before.

Anyway, negative camber, to much of it and if you drive like an old lady, will wear down the inside edges of your tires faster. If you have a reasonable amount of negative camber, say 1.5 degrees up front, could be a bit more, and drive agressively through alot of corners you will wear the tires relatively evenly. I use as much a negative 3.5 degrees when autocrossing, 2 degrees on the street usually.

I run approx 1 degree negative on the rear, to much and it promotes understeer, to little and it can lead to oversteer but only under extreme driving conditions.

This is meant to be general in nature, we adjust our suspension as needed according to track and weather conditions;)

well i didnt even know what the hell he was talking about with the cable? I went back this morning and he said that it would take about 15 mins to adjust the steering wheel. It took 45 mins! "freaking idiot!". Its all good now! I have a little neg camber in the rear, looks kool though!


Anyways, is the Hotchkis Strut bar worth it? Let me know?

Great, I got a bit excited there, I have heard the most bizare lies in alignment and brake shops but a cable was a new one and really set me off! Glad you have the centering of the steering wheel taken care of, sure annoying to have it off center.
