Since there was only 1 ski/snowboard meet last year in Detroit. I wanted to put together something closer to home this year. My idea is to have it at Bittersweet Ski Resort in Michigan. http://skibittersweet.com/cf/start/index_05d.cfm The prices are $29 lift ticket and $19 ski or snowboard rental. As of now any Saturday or Sunday in January were the dates I was thinking about. You would have to get there early to be sure and get good rental equipment. So I just want some responces on interest in this so hopefully we can make this event happen. And even if you dont do winter sports they got a nice bar area where you can look out and watch us fall.

i'm there! ... at the bar/lounge...

keep in mind that the NAIAS is also in January, so might want to check with the Detroit guys so there is no scheduling conflict.

Hell, I'm skating every weekend if it's dry and I'm not at a race.

It's hard for me to get motivated to snowboard around here after riding in Utah for 7 years. :nope:

I agree. Once you taste virgin powder, it's hard going back to whore ice.

I will only follow through with this if I can at least get 10 people to go and participate. Its no fun if only a few people go. So if your really interested in doing this start a roll call.

If I can get a group of 20 or more to buy a lift ticket you will save $6 on the lift ticket and $2 on ski rental. Snowboard rental stays the same and my lift ticket would be free

So with 20 or more people it would be $24 lift ticket $18 ski rental $20 snowboard

Anyone and everyone is invited and the date is still up in the air.

Any word on what? If its going to happen or not. Well so far there is about 6 people that showed interest in actually skiing or snowboarding and a couple that just wanted to go and hang out. I will look around for occupied dates and figure out when its going to happen. So I'll start the snowball rolling and put a few dates out there on monday and see who bites on the hook.

Hey, not to make you the official planner, but I have never been to this place. Are people planning on skiing then crashing in a hotel? If so, if you've been here before can you make some rec's? Knowing I have a place to sleep aside from a long drive home would be a big help in getting me there.

Thanks ;)

Kalamazoo is the nearest big city to the resort I am sure there is plenty of hotel/motels there. I am not very good at planning the whole thing but I am good with ideas. If anyone wants to help out with the planning that would help out a lot.

The 28th is perfect. SE:Detroit's annual NAIAS event is the 14th or 15th so the 28th is great!

Ok Jan 28th it is. I'll start a roll call. Get on it as soon as possible so if we have 20 or more I can give Bittersweet at least 2 weeks notice and get us a group rate to save a few bucks.

I was thinking about that this weekend as I saw the last of the snow on my lawn melt away...

Plus Scion is having another Midnight Madness ski event on Feb 11th from 6pm- 2am @ Mt. Brighton.

SCION Giveaway: On Feb 11th, 1 SCION K2 Snowboard with bindings will
be raffled off at midnight. Additional SCION merchandise will be given
away throughout the night as well.

It's a bit of a drive for SE: Chicago but maybe some will want to come out. If it's a Scion event there's less for us to plan and worry about. We can just enjoy it.
