Default questions for current xB owners

Hi Guys,
I'm on my way to getting the xB in black but i had a few questions for current owners:

1) How many miles are you up to? Have you had any mechanical problems with the car?

2) When you bought it, did you pay cash? I am thinking about buying the car entirely in cash and am wondering what kind of discount you may have recieved....

3) How is the interior sound when driving? Is it fairly quiet? noisy?

4) How is the ride of the xb with the stock suspension? Is it semi-smooth over bumps? Is it really bouncy?

I appreciate any input guys. I just wanted to get a general concensious before going out and driving away in one ;]

I apprecate it.

I'm still waiting for mine, but I can answer number 2. There are no discounts on paying cash other than not having to pay intrest. Scion works on a pure pricing plan like Saturn does. The price is non negotiable.

#1. My wife is the primary driver. We've had it almost 6 months and we've put just under 4,000 miles on it. Zero problems of any kind. We love it.

#2. Like redhalo said, there will be no discount. It's up to you if you want to pay cash or finance. Paying cash will avoid the interest, but that's the only advantage really.

#3. and #4. I don't think the noise or the ride are bad at all, but those kinds of things are subjective. Your best bet is to take it on a good long test drive and decide for yourself.

Good luck!!

1- 8K miles, no problems
2- paid cash, I did get cruise control and matts for free. The dealer would rather you finance than pay cash. more money for them
3- interior noise is fairly high... lots of engine noise and road noise coming thru
4- stock suspension is stiff... it is a choppy ride as the suspension is designed to be sporty so it is stiff...

Default XB questions

I have 15,000 miles on my RS 2.0. Got it the end of March. When I picked it up, I noticed that the ride was a little rough on certains roads. Checked the air pressure in the tires and found it a little high. Dropped it to 30 psi and the ride much improved. As far as the nozzle on the gas pump issue, I never leave the nozzle unattended. I always fill my own tank. This way I can make sure the tank is full for MPG records. Also price is the same weither you pay cash or not. Best part about paying cash is not paying all that interest.

I got 3600 miles and no problems

2) When you bought it, did you pay cash? I am thinking about buying the car entirely in cash and am wondering what kind of discount you may have recieved....

I financed.........

3) How is the interior sound when driving? Is it fairly quiet? noisy?

The noise level is not bad at all, I drove a 94 Nissan PU before this and the xB is much quieter. Some added sound dampening would help.

4) How is the ride of the xb with the stock suspension? Is it semi-smooth over bumps? Is it really bouncy?

My xB was very bouncey in the first 1000 miles, but has settled in very nice now.

I appreciate any input guys. I just wanted to get a general concensious before going out and driving away in one ;]

I apprecate it.

BTW

Default gas mileage

Trust me - the gas mileage is one of the main reasons i want one.

I own a 2004 hummer h2 and -- well -- needless to say, you know how gas is in those things. luckily for me though, i dont commute, so i only take the truck out on weekends.

I received my h2 in november of 2003 and in the last 20 months, i've only put about 14,000 miles on it. I TOLD YOU I DON'T COMMUTE!

I am going to keep the h2 in the driveway and take out my xb wherever i want to go...

The one thing im wondering about is the ride quality... the roads here in nyc aren't the smoothest so i dont really want a bumpy ride... i am gonna look to see if they have any non-sport type of shocks that i can replace the stock stiff ones with... does anyone know of any off-hand?

1) I'm up to around 5500 miles. I've had no problems at all.

2) No, I financed it. Seeing as I am only 18. :D

3) You can hear the engine, and exhaust if you add anything to it.

4) The ride is a tad bouncy, like most japanese cars. But I like it.

CASH here. No discount, nothing. Scion can not and will not haggle. They're asking price is what you will pay, no less. (Only applies to new vehicles, not pre-owned)

Fairly, yes.

#1 = 1,7xxx miles. I have a few problems with the car, but there little things I dont care about. The main one being my windshield washer system has not worked from day 1, but Im going to try & gut that thing out this weekend any ways. In the sense of true mechanical problems, its all been good. The only other thing is one of my hoses on my intake is cracking, so I need to replace it (I have a aftermarket intake, but not sure why hose still cracked)

#2 = I financed, but if you go cash, at least you save on interest paid.

#3 = Again with my Intake & exhaust I have a great deal more noise then you will. My radio set at sound level 15 with the Auto sound thing set on high, keeps the radio loud enough so I dont really hear to much other then it.

#4 = I find the suspension to be a mix of the 2. I dont find it to bouncy per say. I find it to soft for corning but a little to stiff for bumps. Seems like the springs are a little stiff & the compress/decompress settings on the shocks are not set right. If coil overs didnt cost so much for what they are, I would just get me a set of those.

Hope this helps a little. My total average of gas milage has been right around 36.5mpg average from the day I bought the thing. My high has been 39.5 & my low was 32mpg. So its a wide range, but much better then the 25mpg average I was getting with my old Focus. I to seem to be some what of a low milage driver, only 1700 or so in a little over 2 months. I will be right around the 10000 mark in 1 year unless I do some killer road trips.

1) Only about 2500 miles. The build quality seems perfect. No problems at all.

2) Paid cash. There are no discounts from posted price on Scions.

3) There's a whole recent thread on interior noise in the xB. Scroll down a page or so.

4. It's neither smooth nor bouncy. It's what I'd call "hard." You will feel and hear every bump, seam, and irregularity in the pavement. There's very little rebound ("bounce"); motions are very controlled, but the suspension makes no attempt to insulate you from the road.

Personally, I like this about the xB, because I like to feel that connection to the road, but other people call it fatiguing.

I'm @ 6 months and 3000 miles. No issues, mechanical or otherwise.
I'm finally beginning to see decent mileage, last tank was 26.8 city, compared to the SS (9.9), and the SC (14.3), it's great.
Financed but will pay it off before Christmas.
Stock ride is good, I've modified, interior noise is not bad for a $14,000 car.
I'm happy with the box, I drive it almost exclusively.
For a cheap car/toy the xB can't be beat.
I'm giving some thought to the Blitz Supercharger....

1. 5 months and 8K miles - no problems at all (mechanically).

2. Financed - like stated before, no discount.

3. I've got the same buzzing on the passenger side door near the lock that a lot of others have gotten, it's rather annoying, but then I just crank up the radio and I feel better! Plus I've got an RS2.0, so with the DC Sports exhaust it does sound louder inside than the regular xB's.

3. Ok, the ride is a bit harsh, but yes, it's for handling. I live right across the river from NYC (Fairview, NJ), and I've had the box into the city numerous times, and I really have had no major issues with how it drives in the city. It's easy to weave in and out of traffic (hence my box's name being Weaver).

But get used to people coming up to you when you're at a red light asking you what the hell you're driving...It happens to me all the time. And since mine's yellow, I've been hailed like a cab more than I'd like to admit....Hmm, not a bad way to make some extra $$!

1.) 15,000 Miles, no mechanical problems whatsoever.

2.) Financed with a good-sized down payment, wish I could have paid cash though.

3.) It is a bit noisy in the cabin. I am going to put some eDead sound deadening material all over the place. I have heard it makes it sound like a luxury sedan.

4.) The ride is a bit bumpy, but I do like to feel the road. My friend's '03 civic is much bumpier I think.

Go buy one, you won't regret it!

- Got mine 11/04, not even 5,000 miles on it (I live in NYC). Driver's side door squeaks when opened, other than that no malfunctions or problems.
- Cash
- It is 2300 lbs, so you don't have much sound proofing, but it isn't loud.
- As a driver it is fine, back seat absorbs all the bumps, but no huge complaints.

Mine is black, paint is garbage, but you didn't ask about the paint, did ya?

Very cool. I'm in NYC as well and was just quoted $16,655 from the dealer for a 2006 xB in black.... is this like the average figure people are paying? The $16,655 that I was quoted is the cost of a base xB ($15,195) plus 8.whatever percent tax and all the dealer tag fee's included......

I ask this because I just saw a used xB on craigslist for $17,995 - and it does NOT have a lot of mods on it! How are used xB's selling for more? I saw a few other posts on this and think it's ridiculous.

Here is the link if you need a good laugh: http://philadelphia.craigslist.org/car/105633036.html

when my xB was totaled, they didnt have to use the gap insurance to pay the difference on the loan, even though I owed more than 14,500. they said the car went up in value in the 2 years ive had it. they had never seen it before, and it was soo close to what I owed they just payed it off!

ok heres my shot...

1)24,500 miles before she passed not a single problem
2)financed with small down payment, no discount, again
3)Rather than saying it was a little noisy, I like to say it communicated what was going on outside very well, not too much of it, but its not silent. that goes for the rest of the car too, it has a very nice feel, and keeps you connected to the road
4)once again, not bumpy, not bouncy, it communicated the goings on under the car quite nicely

you will not be disappointed, im buying a new black one soon too!
