I owned a 1999 Civic SI. It was stolen back in May, recovered and now stolen AGAIN last week, recoved AGAIN but my insurance is going to total it out this time. They completely stripped the car whereas the first go round the guy just took my stereo, intake and gear shifter (?) ANYWAY, I am now looking into buying an Xa. My question is this, what is the theft/vandalism rate of this car?(not looking for actual stats, I realize these cars are fairly new and nothing has been officially compiled on them yet. More just curious to know what Scion-Folk know/heard/experienced) It's just with the two thefts and not to mention about 2-3 breakins with my Si over the span of 6 years I'm close to just buying a Gremlin just so people won't WANT it.
Thanks!
Oh and PS, if anyone knows who stole a blue Civic SI in The Heights in Houston on 10/11 tell them I said to SUCK IT!!!!!!!!

It may depend on your neighborhood or your profile as a driver, if you're a cocky target or your car screams attention. I don't see xA's getting stolen much because they don't have much power at all.
Civics were high demand, high-mod, and the standard Tuner for quite some time... they were more likely stolen, stripped for parts, and easy to come by on the roads.
If you want to know what's more likely to be stolen/vandalized then you need to check out insurance rates on vehicles in the COMPREHENSIVE segment (comprehensive, collison, liability).
If your car is higher priced there than other models, chances are it's either higher risk, or higher replacement cost.

Dont throw on any bling and you may as well be a VW bug, they are little gas savers driven by old people, another toyota echo. But mine is absolute glory! lol. :D

Theft has a lot to do with where you live/drive/park.... Not to mention, the Civic has been one on the top 10 stolen cars for a long time.
Also, what kind of theft deterrents do you use? I know there's no fool-proof device, but the more you have, the less likely a crook will waste time on your car when there's 10 other Civics on your block alone.
I doubt the xA will be a big target. but ANY car can be stolen, especially if you have mods, or just lack the proper protection/theft deterrents.
Good luck.

i havent heard to much about it, but as the aftermarket is a little lacking at the moment for the xA, i would think that there would be less of a reason for people to steal it for parts..

Dude you had a civic Si 99' do you know what this car represents in the US.
#1 stolen car in the US!!!!!
and your surpirsed your car got stolen? I had a civic hatchback, but my civic had seats, coilovers, HKS exhaust, B18, CAI, Computers, bla bla bla bla. Never ever saw it again, that when i bought my Xa, great car, but people do tend to steal the accesories.
My spoiler and hubcaps were stolen, but that just because my car was an easy target, but not anymore... I dont think your Xa will be stolen but the accesories might be.

I realize that my car was a hot target! I just thought that because I DIDN'T keep it up, she was pretty dirty, had some curb babies with the rims, some drunk side swiped her at one point so I had some scratches down the passenger side blah blah blah that she wouldn't appeal to anyone (except me of course) BUT like I said good riddance and I find out tomorrow how much my insurance is going to pay me off. Then I'm off to the Scion dealership, I've pretty much decided on the xA...now just what COLOR? hmmmm. Don't want anything to attract attention, my Si was Electron Blue Pearl, I SHOULDA KNOWN BETTER! ARG!

For some reason, the hubcaps are stolen a lot (see other threads) but the xA seems to be a pretty safe bet that it will be there when you wake up...
