Default My first mod (headlights)

Ok here is my first modification. Glowing headlights at night. It consisted of two LEDs mounted underneath the headlight units shining through the clear plastic lens. No drilling or cutting, just wiring and installing a switch. $15 for LEDS with angled mount, and a few bucks for the switch. I got the idea while shining my led flashlight while looking underneath my car. Well as the light shown up towards the bottom of the headlight my friend pointed out how it started glowing. Here's the result-

DUring the day you can't really see them which I like, but you can slightly see blue beams reflecting around inside the headlights like dim laser beams. Best part is I can leave them on forver since LEDs take hardly any power. I've left them on for a week so far. [/img]

Thanks. I don't know whats going on with my pictures. Had the same problem in another thread, some people could see them some people couldn't. Seems to be working right now. Maybe Kodakgallery was down for while? I think I'm doing it correctly but here's the links that shold work just in case.

There's no LED involved in this mod. I used a Cold Cathode to have that effect. As for the flashers, you may use google and search for headlight flasher kits...typically websites that carries supplies for Law enforecement. Hope this helps.

Can you say thread hijack! Just kidding! I like how the cathode light kit looks. Awesome job. I really enjoy the fact that I spent under $20 bucks, but I might have to go with cathode kit for the interior in the future. The box is just too dark inside.

Thread Hijack!!! ^^^ J/K. I agree with you that it's too dark inside the box. Cathodes are the best for the job. I scattered them under my dash & seats. I'm getting ready to DIY some kind of an overhead lighting also using some LEDS or cathodes similar to Laylight by Napolex.

Can I ask how many LED's you needed per light? Looks like something I'm gonna have to try this week.

I'd also like to know what you have powering them as well. I plan on wiring LED's for my table and vents, so I might as well pic these up on my way to radioshack. three holes under the oven, 1 for puddle lights, 1 for headliner/table/vents, and 1 for this.

Hey stick, how much wiring do you have to do to make that mod?

I'm kind of scared (naman) because of all the extra power these lights are taking... talking about my cathodes inside my box.

So, are you using an extra energy source for the engine bay to power up those cathodes? Salamat.

You can use the same power source you're using now for your interiors. You can also use the same switch or if you prefer to have a separate one it works fine too. I ran my wires through the firewall to the engine bay (hirap). If you decide to go with cathodes for your headlights let me know so I can tell you where to position them. Sige pare ko.
