Default bizarre pedal problem

Ok, so I've been hanging around the SL forums for awhile now (basically since I first saw Scions a year and a half ago or so), but on 10.20.2005 I finally took the plunge. Got my first new car, a Classic Silver Metallic 5-spd.

Now that I'm actually "in the club", I have some general questions. I've been skimming the forums all day (while watching Penn State THUMP Illinois - I'm a Penn State grad :D) and haven't seen any of these covered to my satisfaction:

I'm pretty new to the San Diego area. Anyone on here from SoCal familiar with the body shops/performance shops in the area? I trust word of mouth on here more than most other stuff I could find by myself.

This car is my daily driver, and coming from a Ford Focus that got 30+ mpg, mileage is important. Especially in an area where 87-octane is still $2.80+. My question: what numbers have you guys been noticing on your modded tCs? I'd like to hear some of the mpg figures from the real tuners, not just a 5-spd with a CAI and exhaust. I'm not really interested in the S/C, but FI figures on a turbo with an emanage (or even standalone ecu) would be of interest to me.

*Edit* I almost forgot to ask - driving to work I noticed an odd problem. I'm a pretty big guy, 6'2" but skinny. I don't have a problem as far as legroom or anything goes (although with the cover closed on the roof my spikey hair does touch), but my feet are doing something odd on the pedals. My toes are getting kind of caught on the pedal assembly. I don't know how to explain it well, and it only seems to happen when I'm wearing my business shoes, not my chuck taylors. It prevents my foot from laying flat on the pedal because the toe of my shoe is on the bar the pedal is attached to. The grip my foot has on the pedals is also not so good and I often feel like my left is slipping off the clutch. Could this be a pedal-angle or something that I can adjust?

Wasn't really sure where to post this since it kind of runs the tC gamut as far as topics go.

<-- PSU Grad too. We need this after last week.

Anyways... For SoCal stuff, there is a regional forum that might help that:
https://www.scionlife.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=22

I don't think there are any MPG numbers on the SC yet... as it was just released last week. Turbos... I don't know. There are a few around here, but they'd have to answer for that.

For the pedals... not sure on that either. I'm 6'3" and don't really notice any issues with the way my feet are sitting, so I'm not sure what you're running into.

I don't have a digital camera, but I will be borrowing one from a coworker to get some pix for my family back East. In case any of you would like to see the new CSM.

Also, I would really appreciate any advice on the pedal problem. I'm really not sure why this is a problem. Never noticed anything like this on any other car I've ever driven. It's quite annoying, as I end up driving with my foot to one side of the clutch pedal to avoid the discomfort of my foot being propped up on the hinge or whatever the heck the back of the pedal assembly is called.

Sand down your toes...that might help.

Just kidding....anyway, you might want to check out scionevolution. One of their first chapters was right in San Diego and I'm sure alot of them know of places in that area.

I don't know if you're still watching this thread but I have the same problem. I only notice it with my sean carters. They're not any bigger in size than any of my other shoes so I'm thinking it has to do with the sole material. My sean carters tend to stick to my clutch and end up hitting the bar...I just don't drive with those shoes anymore.
