Default Is Cruise Control standard for 2006 xB's?

When I took a look through the scion brochure, there's a big "N/A" for both xA and xB, regarding Cruise Control.

I thought I read some where on this site that the 2006 xB comes standard with cruise control.

Is it standard? Is it even an option?

Thanks,

PF

I bought my '06 xB in September. Cruise control was not standard but it was an option (which I did not purchase). Don't know for sure if it's still an option or not, but I'd figure it is.

Wish my dealer would have had it as an option, I love CC!

My first one purchased in September had no option for CC and the salesman said he knew a guy that could put on on for $350. It's a manual for mainly around town. The one I'm waiting for now will have auto but I'm not sure if I want an aftermarlet CC tacked on for that kind of money.

the CC option is an aftermarket unit. Rostra makes it. I dont think it comes standard, and is only an option available in certain states, last i checked..

It's an Option depending where you are. I live in Texas and in this region it's called Scion speed. I ordered in as a 'Port installed' Option. It fits on the left side of the steering wheel on a stalk like the lights or turn signals. The east coast has an entirely different cc. For fun, go to the scion site and do a 'Build your own' put in zip codes from different parts of the country and the options will change. There seems to be no port install option for the west coast.

Wow, that's very surprising... I went to a dealer here in NYC yesterday and asked about the cruise control option.... The salesperson responded with "Sorry, that's not an option on the xB." .... That was that...

im pretty sure that all dealers have the ability to order through part numbers. so, at the very least, you could get them to order/install it using the part number posted..

i havent seen a different CC option for east coasters. any pics of that one?

I did a random check with zip codes from Texas, Florida, New Jersey, California, Washington, Nebraska and Tennessee. Only Texas and Florida showed speed control as an option.

My dealer said the same thing...I live in WI.

I do many roadtrips and really need CC, so I am going to have to get it done after my car arrives.

In car-speak, "option" usually refers to factory options. Factory options are covered by the new-car warranty, as well as by any factory extended warranty (usually not by third-party ones).

And no, there is no Scion CC.

Some dealers offer aftermarket CC as a dealer-installed "option." If you buy it, check carefully about the warranty coverage.

Default Cruise Control

I was just at the dealer yesterday and was introduced to the xB yesterday and they told me cruise control can be added, the manager told me they mass produce the Scions xB and do all options at the dealership, sunroof and all. Now if thats the truth, I dunno. I was quite happy with this vehicle, the inside was very nice, I could see going on a road trip to amusement parks with my friends, so roomy inside, howeveer reviews say its not a good car for long trips cause the ride is harsh on long trips, anyone have any input?

Oh and the manager did say they all the options that are dealer installed are convered under the manufactures warranty, I just saw someone say it probably or may not be. I hope the sales manager is being honest with me.

If you are in the Gulf coast dristribution area, the CC is installed at the port BEFORE the car is shipped to the dealer. It is covered under factory warrenty. Again, look at www.scion.com, put in a zip code from any of the gulf states and you will find CC in the interior options. BTW, if you don't order the CC for port install, the dealer will still install it, just for more money.

I don't mind the ride on long trips, but is is pretty stiff. I think it depends upon what your previous vehicle was.

The aftermarket cruise control is a port option in the southeast region only. The rest of us have to either install it ourselves ($), have it installed by an accessory company ($$) or have a dealer do it for us ($$$). The dealer may or may not warranty the cruise control even if they install it. Accept no verbal promises, get it on paper.

I often wonder what happens if a Southeast car has a warranty problem with the cruise outside of that region. Will a California dealer be obligated to fix a Southeast port option?

Default cruise control

When I first got my xB (my '06 in mid August) Cruise control was not an option (as in...the car couldn't be ordered with it on it) I was able to have the dealer install it on my car after it came in. I bought my car at Libertyville, IL AutoNation. They installed my cruise control for 350 ish, and it is under warranty for the same length that my car is for. They also installed a sunroof, which also wasn't an option, during the same time.

I would totally get cruise control installed again if I had to...it was well worth the money. I still believe it should automatically come on a car (especially in this day and age!), but at least I got it done. I'm not car savvy, so I would never think about installing it myself...so the big money was well worth it.

Good luck on your decision...my vote is for cruise control. I use it all the time...

If Toyota doesn't make the cruise control, then it's not going to be covered by Toyota. This doesn't mean it's not a good idea or that whatever coverage it has isn't adequate. But people should be aware of what they're buying, and if a dealer or port is installing non-Toyota parts on their Scions, there should certainly be full disclosure of that fact.

I notice that the SE region offers a bunch of non-Scion options, not just the CC. DVD players, custom paint, leather interiors, etc. Looks to me like they're trying to keep some of the modding business that usually gets lost to aftermarket sellers and DIYers.
