Default 05 tC trade in value $16000 at Mazda dealer 10/24/05

Yesterday I was looking for a RX-8 in the biggest MAZDA dealer in SoCal. The 4-speed automatic 197-hp, 1.3-liter Rotary was on special $22955.00 with a extra $1000 rebate. Well, my tC has 9500 miles w/ all the mods. They gave me $14200 first time, after 15 mins negotiation, i got $15200 in another 10 mins and then $15600 in another 10 mins . Guess what i got after almost 1 hr negotiation?? $16000!Plus another $1000 rebate if i finance through Mazda. I paid $21100 for my tC with the 18" chrome rims w/ some options including side air bags when i got in on April without waiting in the god damn list. I mean wow the trade in offer $16000 i could buy a brand new stick tC. What do u guys think? Plus those Mazda salespersons and managers are some really nice guys. Man I mean RX-8 looks and drives like a killer ____ on the road….. should I do that ?

I still owe Toyota 11000.
But the trade in price is incredible and I don’t think I will get that again.....

do not get the automatic version. i dont care how cheap it is, you will regret it. ive driven a 6-speed several times and absolutely love the car. i'd probably be driving one now if i had the cash. however, the automatic gets significantly less hp, only 4 gears, and worst of all, its automatic. :-/

if thats not an issue though, go for it! i drove an automatic for 3 years and hated every minute of it, but outside of the transmission, the rx8 is still a fantastic and beautiful car.

Do it. I love my tC but the RX-8 would make me divorce the tC. However, remember the RX-8 is a "horsepower" car and is not meant for mostly city driving. It needs to run baby run.......

They're already holding their value quite well. Many have been booked for over the retail price... used. Check out kbb.com. It might not be 100% accurate, but will show you what I mean.

I agree with cfusionpm, if you are going to get a RX-8, don't get a auto version!

RX-8 is nice, but I am still waiting for RX-7 back to US sometime in the future

btw: 16K is a very good trade-in price, but what's the rate for the 8?

Don't get the auto version I work at an Infiniti Dealer and took an RX-8 2004 auto version in on a trade. It drives like a pig. For a car that stickers at 30k its a disgrace. Sure it looks nice but when you have the 350Z, STI, Evo, and even G35 C in the same price range its a no brainer.

Do whatever your heart desires. Looks like you got some sweet mods on your tC IMO I would keep it. If you cant keep your mind of that gas guzzler, and it will make you happy then go for it!

Default Check the websites

I'd keep your TC. Ford has had some very bad influence on Mazda Cars and my crappy Mazda3 Sport that I traded in as fast as I could to get my XB is proof. That Mazda was the worse car I ever owned.

RX-8s' have a "voracious" appetite for motor oil to the point owners are having to keep spare quarts in their cars when they travel and Mazda is still not providing an explanation to that reason why. There have been other problems as well. Check the Auto Mags extended tests reports and check Edmonds.Com forums and you'll see.

I'll admit, the RX-8 looks cool and is fast, but no way in hell I would own another Mazda. Their customer service 1-800 number is "laughable" at best.

Thank y’all for all your advices/remarks. Seriously thank you.
You guys are totally right that if I go for a RX8, I should get the stick one (6-speed manual). But the problem is I don’t get the special offer $21995 (MSRP $$25,935) for the RX8 no more (after $1000 rebate) and the stick one would cost around $26000 (MSRP $27,435) which is $4000 more basically for 40 more hp w/ 6 speed.
• I need to pay around $9000 (Out of door) w/ $16000 trade in for the RX8 if I go for auto plus an extra $1000 rebate
• It will be around $13000 more w/trade in w/ $16000 trade in w/o $1000 rebate which will make it $5000 more!!
And I know if I wanna enjoy every moment in the RX8, I HAVE to go for the manual just like my stick shift IS300…… but when the notorious LA traffic comes to your mind, you will just want an auto. I still love my tC plus it is Toyota quality and I heard Mazda’s quality is so so especially the rotary engine is troublesome.
Well, my decision will be made today, either I will miss the chance or I will divorce my beloved tC (7 months).
Also I wanna trade in my gf too, gimme a extra $16000 for her lol j/k

from KBB

I got :
Fair Good Excellent
Trade-in value $13055 $14730 $15725
Private Party value $15620 $17080 $18195

I wonder who will buy it in private party since the PPV is way more than a brand new tC $16000-$16800.

Someone who doesn't want to wait for a specific color, I would bet.

Because the RX-8 is high revving, you need the stick to bring out the performance. I know about LA traffic, heh, I used to commute the 101. The tC is much better in traffic than the 8, because auto versus auto is 15mpg in traffic for the 8 and 25mpg for the tC.

That's a pretty nice trade-in.

But, you realize you still just added 15,000 to the price of your Mazda, right?
