Default In need of some show ideas.......

I'm a noob to showing my car at shows. Last weekend at Freak Show 5 here on the east coast i took 2nd place for our class, getting beat by a rather stock xB with a nice show setup around it. Here's basically all i had:

any ideas would be appreciated!

Sound's like you have too much time on your hands or you are in need of a BJ.. LOL.... Get some of those snap togethes titles and paint them yellow and black and park on them like you are on a checkard floor.....

Start by showing with your hood FULLY open. Having it only partially open can annoy judges causing them to overlook your hard work in the engine bay and cause spectators to completely skip over your engine bay.

After that, CLEAN!! As a rule I try to make my car clean enough to deliver a baby on any part for every show including the underside of rocker panels, bumpers and the inside of the wheels especially behind the spokes where dirt likes to hide. Don't forget to clean those brightly colored drop springs and wheel wells too.

Finally, come up with a simple display that serves to accent your car, not overpower it. Too much can happen really easily. Usually a little mirror or colored tile along with your trophies and maybe a model or two are a good idea (along with your "Battle Board").

Good luck and keep us posted!

I would say get a "Battle Board".....but you already have one.....

Make sure everything is open, and everything is clean!!! I placed 1st & 2nd at the last 2 shows I attended, there were cars that could have beat me, but my car was cleaner and had a better display......at least i think so.

P.S. The trophy on the left lights up with LED's....

I would get a photo album documenting the work you have done...I know you take lots of pics,I would get a hood lift kit to show off the engine bay, I would get an easel for the battle board and I would have some Scion stuff to add as a display....display gets points.....when ccars are equal or very close the display put it over the top sometimes......just my $.02

Always make yourself available to the judges, but not annoy them. Alot of times they will want to ask questions that can help you point out more detailed mods that they might have overlooked. "Sell" your car to them.
Give them something to look at in every category they are judging.

These are some great tips. The cleaning part is a killer. This is my daily driven car, so you can imagine how many hours of cleaning put in before that show.

Cleaning the right way takes forever.....but it is worth it in the end.
Just be glad you don't have 2 xB's to clean like me

Only things I can say is look through sites like drop jaw for ideas. Also might consider making it somewhat hard for people to get into the seats of the car, I always lay something in the seats so people can't just sit down, I've seen to many idiots just jump into cars at shows........

You could also get some yellow caution tape to rope off your display area. And a couple of those yellow flashing road sign lights to draw people to your bad ___ car.
