The rattling started today, on the right side of my hatch.... and my car is only 2 days old... 79 miles on the ground =( bah.

 

did you check the rear license plate? cant hurt to check the simple stuff first

 

same with mine its on the right side of my hatch also I even changed the license plate cover and its still there. I think I am going to try and re-create the rattle tomorrow morning by hitting things,

 

a week after i got my tC, it started rattling... it's about 2 months old now. took it in last week to the dealer and they said they repaired it, but it's still there. also spent a lot of time into researching all the rattle threads here to no avail. it really sucks.

 

Yea, the rattles started about 2 months after I got the car. Its been a month since it started and its annoying me already. I hope scion finds a fix soon.

 

One cheap thing to try is to wrap electrical tape around the bar where the hatch latches onto frame of car. I think I did 6-7 wrap arounds. If that does not work, try taking your dome light down and while someone else is driving, you stay back and hold down on the metal bar above the dome light. I had a rattle which I thought was coming from the rear and it was really coming from above the dome light.
If it is the dome light area, I jammed a piece of wood to "brace" it between the metal bars.

Those two items got rid of my rattles.
