Ok I have tried searching, if im missing something please point me! So sorry ahead of time if this has been covered and I am not seeing it.

Nitrous - over the years ive read my share of mags, I am a newb for sure ..my impression is nitrous can be good for 2 things

1 - super quick HP boost for the mad hunry

or

2 - a little shot if you need or want it, can be fine for daily drivers

Is this a correct assumption? I have always thought with my old corolla of getting a very small nitrous setup just for a situation where I may need it or want it

I am thinking the same thing wit my new box, anyone done this? Know more about it? Know any place I could find some more daily driver with nitrous type info?

Thanks in advance!!

i have a small shot of nitrous on my celica its only a 45 shot and it handles it fine and up until last week when my fan motor went it was daily driven and iv sprayed it quit often as well the key is to keep a on your air fuel ratio to prevent detination

Do not mod your car with anything other than simple bolt ons if you are not very familiar with air fuel ratios, what they should be, what is dangerous, how to modify them and why you'd modify them.
Rent a book about engine tuning from the library or order one online.

Here is the way I look at it.

The small nitrous kits that you see... like the one posted above.. like a 50hp shot for example seems fairly inexpensive for most of these kids that mod their cars anyway. I think I have seen them for like $500 but this was years ago and maybe things have changed who knows... but my point is if it was just a $500 mod that did not harm the xb and was a simple bolt on... then you would see every other xb with Nitrous... just like you see every other xb with aftermarket wheels or exhaust or whatever... the fact is that people are buying different taillights and headlights ( not me )and intakes and short shifters and neon lights ...whatever because this is stuff that doesn't really hurt or harm the daily driver aspect of the car and gives the owner the feeling of ohhh you modded your car...

I too have had a thought like yours... and I will admit I am no mechanic... and I just figure if it was really something that was do-able ... I would think more people would be doing it.. and I am just not seeing it but hey I could be way wrong... when you look at companies that sell the 50hp kits... it seems like a very easy "bolt on" kit...

Maybe put a post up on the ScinergyOZ board. You want to talk to Riki. He's doing some really good work tuning his xB with nitrous. Here's the link to their website:

www.scinergyoz.com

He posts there as "japcrap" and is a really cool guy. I saw him run a 16.4 1/4 mile with a 25 shot on an otherwise stock xB. It beat the tC in the other lane too!

Good luck and be careful with it.

Grab a Innovate Wideband AFR kit at www.tunerschoice.com

i wouldn't advice going above a 30 wet shot, also, get yourself a nice clutch.

Don't forget to check your plugs after each spary for signs of detination
