hatch bumpstoppers adjustable?
Are the rubber hatch bumpstoppers adjustable? I was able to get rid of the damn hatch rattling in my tC by applying a few layers of electrical tape around the latch, but after a while it gets warped up. So I was looking at the hatch bumpstoppers... if you twist them, they don't adjust... anyone know an alternative?
No, the bumpers don't screw out to adjust. You could build it up by popping on some large vinyl hose cap ends that you can get from Home Depot. I found grey colored ones in their hardware section that also fits over the front seat anchor bolts that I found kinda ugly, so I used the caps to cover them up.
I noticed that the caps also fit over the door and hatch bumpers. putting on a couple of those over the bumpers can be a good way to "adjust" them to apply more pressure on the hatch.
I always thought that the often recommended electric tape over the latch hook solution for rear hatch rattles would not last too long. The tape would eventually be ripped up by the latch mechanism.
