We did it!

The Dezod Development tC Stage I Turbo System was designed with the intent to make a streetable, OEM fitting turbo system, with lots of useable power. The secret to the kit is truly the area below the powerful HP and TQ curves, which prevail as ideal for the daily driver who seeks more power to challenge the occasional highway threat or red light rev. Whether your looking to make the daily commute more enjoyable, make the occasional track appearance or be a local hero on your street block, this system is ideal for your tC. With consistent design, quality components and brand name reliability, this provides YOU ‘the best bang for your buck’.

Components:
Turbonetics Dezod Spec'd T3/T4 Turbo
Stainless Steel Manifold
TiAL 38mm Wastegate
Charge Piping w/ Intake
Dezod Turbo Install Kit (Special to kit to ensure perfect fitment)
Stainless Steel downpipe w/ a Random Tech High Flow Cat
TiAL Billet Blow Off Valve
Fuel System (Injector upgrade with clips)
Stainless Steel Braided Oil Lines & Oil Pan Fittings
Large Aluminum Front Mount Intercooler
Greddy EMS w/ a Base Map
Clamps & Couplers
Air filter element

Order here:
http://www.dezod.com/pd_dezod_motorsports_stage.cfm

Please click the link below to order your kit. It may say a higher amount when you purchase, but it's not automatic on our site. We will only be billing people $2000 so we may order the custom parts (manifold, pipes, intercooler, exhaust, turbo, etc...). Once all the custom stuff is done, we will be emailing, calling or PM'ing you the remaining balance/bill. Once we receive the second and final payment, it will ship out. There is NO returns. We will return the deposit ONLY if we can not fullfill our part in getting out the kits in a timely manner.

The kit made 244whp and 255tq with the clutch slipping. We have yet to dyno it since the new clutch put it pulls much nicer now. It ran a 13.8@103 with DOT drag radials (spinning 1st and 2nd due to 30psi tire pressure). After lowering the tire pressure I snapped an axle and even though it's already fixed, the tracks are now closed up here.

The kit is a 13.5second capable setup with the base tune, clutch, and default boost level (8.7psi wastegate setting). With the addition of a boost controller, you can turn up the boost (as long as you make a tune for it) and easily get to low 13s high 12s.

Accessory break down:
*Color: Self-explanatory. Changes color of Wastegate and BOV.
*PnP Harness: Allows you to simply attatch the Emanage without cutting or splicing wires. This makes it easy to go back to stock if need be.
*Clutch upgrade: You need this!!!! The stock clutch will not last long at all with the turbo kit, we reccommend any kind of upgrade you can get.
*Exhaust system: MSRP is $940 (turbo package price is $650). It is an extremely high quality and excellent sounding exhaust made of the highest graded stainless steel. Comes with muffler, bolts, flanges and gaskets. Give your car that extra free power!
*Pressure sensor: This allows you to alter your boost levels and ALWAYS have the right fuel and ignition maps for it. Your emanage will then be tuned by boost, rather than TPS. It's makes for the most reliable power. (Additional Dyno tuning is neccessary as for the base map is throttle position based).

Congratulations -- from the sound of it this kit is dope -- and if it works they way you say it does it will be well worth the price. Now all is need is an extra 5k. Anyone know how much they pay to sperm donors?

Joe_Dezod
11-03-2005, 03:51 PM
Yeah sorry it took so long to repsond.

The pipe that's there is to keep the muffler stock and streetable... You can have it cut open to rout it to the other side of the bumper without making any change to performance. It's just the muffler that happened to work with our design.

Guaranteed not to crack for 1 year. If it does, we will attempt to repair it, if we can not you get a new one. You just need to cover shipping.

jwaggz82
11-08-2005, 03:49 AM
The stock internals are ok with the stage1? I know this has been talked out about in many oth\er posts but many people have said different things. Also, what do you need to check on with a turbo? From what i hear.... you need to keep things on the upANDup ....its not like a stock engine at all.

Joe_Dezod
11-08-2005, 04:07 AM
Change the oil every 3k. We use Mobile 1. We're running stock plugs on stock internals and the car runs great, at 8.7 psi.

Here's a couple...

05 Civic Si - destroyed (felt like he wasn't racing)
05 RSX-S - by 2nd gear it was pretty much over
WRX - Even in the beginning, but I pulled pretty hard once I hit 3rd gear

All I can think of for now. There is of course the typical ricer cars that are really slow to begin with, that isn't worth bragging about lol... But I mean I have a pretty good record so far.

The potential to break your axles with a brand new unbroken in clutch and drag radials is there with ANY kit making decent power.

Turn around time is 2-4 weeks right now (guessing). We are waiting on some materials as of now.

Without a question. Joe has been testing this system DD it for 2-3 weeks at about 50 miles/day and she has been stellar. Note, do not use BFG drag radials, an unbroken in clutch and launch at 3K off a stop sign or red light and you'll be fine.

Yes it allows the beam to stay intact.

Street clutch engagement is pretty agressive but it's definately streetable. Resurface your flywheel if you to rid yourself of any chance of chatter. Other than that, besides the stiffer pedal, it's damn easy to drive on the street. Holding capacity is great too.

Support beam is not modified in any way.

So the Dezod kit is about the same price as the turbonetic kit, plus it uses a turbonetic turbo.

I'm in the market for a turbo kit, so what is it about the dezod kit that would be a better choice then the turbonetic kit?? convince me with some detail?

The more i read about the Unichip that turbonetic is using the more i'm liking it.

The FMIC coming with the Turbonetics kit isn't a custom fitted FMIC build specifically for the tC's front bumper.

The turbo manifold on the Dezod kit appears to be a better design.

Also, the actual turbo, while a turbonetics turbo, is specially sized for the tC to maximize performance.

Turbonetics' website estimates 270 hp; whether or not that is whp or bhp I don't know but on the same dyno, Dezod's kit would have shown 285~ whp with retarded ignition and possibly close to 300 with proper ignition.

Turbonetics no doubt did a lot of research to put their turbo out. We'll see what the difference is when the Turbonetics comes out.

One would buy our kits because of the endless testing we do to make sure the kit performs the way it should. Another would be for the extremely rapid and excellent customer service we offer. You can also customize your color scheme with us, and get a FULL exhausts system that compliments the kit, as well as the clutch from us, and a PnP harness to ease your installation. We sell everything else including gauges to accomodate all your needs.

All in all, we're a one stop shop that can give you everything you need.

I would be willing to bet there will be no upgrade path from the Greddy one unless you go custom. I believe dezod will be making a stage 2, etc that will be tested over and over as was this kit.

This is one of my biggest reasons - since I want a tuner I can go to for help, suggestions, and upgrades - not just buy a kit and that's it.

mattssi
11-23-2005, 03:14 AM
I guess it depends on the performance gain. I really don't want a crazy loud sound either. I had a high flow cat on the IS300 and it served me well.

Whatever you guys go w/ would be fine by me.

On another note - will the car throw a CEL at all, or no (with the kit)

C'mon Joe - must have been a rough concert. Damn buuurs

Joe_Dezod
11-25-2005, 12:29 AM
Yeah it was a rough concert.

I got to see DJ Tiesto (worlds best dj for 5 yrs now) live at Club Avalon in Boston. It was amazing, went form 8:30 to abotu 4 in the morning.

We've been running the car without a cat now and highway driving for extended amounts of times has improved and temps have gone down. We'll most likely be shipping out all kits without cats because it made a noticable difference in driveability, nevermind the power gain.

At this point, we have not determined that.

BlkSandPrlTurbotC
11-25-2005, 04:52 PM
removing of the cat, or hallow outting of the cat will make a noticeable difference in performance...not a lot, but it will.

my friend dyno'd his srt-4, after hallowing out the cat and he gained 8whp, its not a lot, but more whp is always better

so either way, i'll take this kit w/ or w/o one, b/c i'll probably end up hallowing it out :)

keep up the GREAT work Dezod!

Good prices on stainless are hard to come by. :nails:

Because our D17 kit has been out a lot longer and every kit has to start out somwhere. Our D17 started out as long until a few months ago. Give it time. This car will get one.

I may have come across sounding critical and I apologize - but that ^^ is exactly what I wanted to hear.

Do you have a charted increase for the EL manifold? I imagine that if you get a small increase in the D17 kit at 8 psi we should see a significantly larger increase on the 2AZ at 8.7 psi. It may even be a proportional gain relative to displacement when looking at the EX.

And being able to retain the AC - very nice indeed.

Prithee, tell more of this tubular manifold.

The manifold is being dyno'd next week on a D17 that currently runs 13 PSI on T3/T04E. He put down 247whp to start on a log. Let's see where we go from there.

Sorry it took so long to respond about the VTA bov guys.

We've had almost 0 differences from stock with the BOV under idle. Very rarely will it dip a little lower, but it's minimal, and nothing that causes the engine to stall. If you have the music up at all, you won't even notice.

It does obviously run slightly rich between shifts which is fine because it's minor and doesn't cause the car to run like crap. It's driveable, just don't floor it through a long gear then push the clutch in and let the rpms fall. Leave it in gear and it's perfect, which is what you're supposed to do anyway.

Good things come to those who wait Mattssi :)

Your car is gonna be uber sexy with this turbo... just b/c you have red!

Red is fast! I used to think it was yellow hehe

I may as well put another question out there...

Joe/Paul - have you played or discussed timing adjustments with this with the addition of the boost sensor and boost increase?

Yes. Joe is dabling with advancing some timing in some spots with the PS. We hope to have some dybno work done on Friday. We will keep you guys posted.

Anyword on the EL D17 manifold?

Joe_Dezod
12-12-2005, 03:54 AM
Yes i've been playing with the ignition timing with hopes of keeping EGTs lower on the highway. I've also been pulling some timing for boost levels beyond what we ship the kits at so blowing a motor is a little hard to pull off lol.

More info towards the end of this week.

Good to hear. The reason I ask is because all of the othe rposts I've been reading about boosting above 8-9 psi without any timing adjustments causing piston failures, etc. I want to be able to run the car at a decent boost level (11 maybe?) without causing damage in the short term.

I'm looking forward to your results!

Joe_Dezod
12-12-2005, 04:13 AM
Well we pull timing even on the 8psi. If I advanced it 3 degrees I'd be able to make some good power, but not reliably. We were gaining 10whp for every degree of timing closer to 0. We stopped at 3 to keeps things safe, especially for those who can only run 91 instead of our 93. I still haven't experienced any knock since the tune.

Charge piping is all done and wrapped ready to go. Still need to weld the end tanks on the intercooler and STILL waiting on materials for the downpipes.

Awesome news, aside from the downpipe metal. That fn blows.

I thought that you ddin't get the ignition harness if you didnt' order the pnp adapter, which led me to believe that there would be no timing change since you wouldn't have 2 diffeernt tunes based on if the person got the harness or not.
Anyway, Im glad.

Intercooler end tanks will be done in a few hours too

If you do not order the PnP, you get both the harnesses, but you have to wire and pin them in. THAT is a PITA. The PnP is the way to go!

We will have one of the intercoolers ready in about an hour.

Anyword on the EL D17 manifold?

That manifold is being dyno'd possibly today, but the gentleman may have to wait until later this week if not.

Sorry, I did not even see this post.

is it possible to make a PnP for the STi? What if we went stand alone? So I could be like Paul Walker and have a laptop in the passenger seat? HAHA

We can get you into a standalone or a PnP with a piggy back. Either way.

Just received word the downpipe materials will be here later in the week.

Well, Joe's tC should be doing around 300 bhp if not more. Surely, BlkSandPrlTurbotC will have the launch (AWD vs the tC's FWD spin-happy engine) but after that, the tC's shorter gearing (by "after that" I mean after the tC grabs traction) and reduced drive train loss will allow the tC to close some distance.

It should be a good race.

Anyways, Paul, I don't mind waiting the extra week if the dyno gets pushed back. Just please do post it when you get it, I'm very curious about it!

Well, can you answer this? What makes your design superior to the butterfly design? AC retention is more than a good enough reason for me to go with this design but power wise, is your design better than the more common designs?

This has nothing to do with power, but is there a reason why you're going with a cut and weld manifold? Is it impossible to do a mandrel bent tubular manifold?

Please forgive my constant questions, but are you guys already designing the tC's manifold?

No not yet.

With respec to our EL for the D17, no one offers a manifold at all for it. With respect to the design of it, ours was deisgned for higher boost apps on the D17. It is premised off of an EVO8 manifold design but taper and catered to the D17. We attempted first off with a butterfly design, but space restrictions and such made it difficult. This design was far easier to tuck the runners in an equal length fashion into our manifold. We decided to defy the norm and see what our design can do.

This manifold for the D17 is the motivation for my buddy to finish his 2002 EX.

We've installed a T3/T04B 60 trim, big intercooler, Vortec intake manifold, Acura injectors (for new) new clutch, fully built motor now done, the AEM stand-alone (soon to be bought from us for him), and a full crower top-end. I guess it's a good way to see if the manifold holds up. We plan on putting the tC against a fully built honda SOHC this spring and seeing what happens. Should be some fun.

Back off to the garage for more tweaking and logging. Back tonight.
