View Full Version : IS THERE ANY ROOM ON THIS FORUM FOR AN OLD F___T ?
pjracer 11-03-2005, 12:44 AM We are new owners of a camo xB (2006) and are both 68 years young. Just wondering if there is any room on this forum for old f _ r t s like us-----------actually we are young at heart-----I enjoy this forum------have just put a couple of questions over on tech. about if there is or if there isn't a air filter behind our glove box? (salesman says it has been installed) and another question about a arm rest featured on myscionwarehouse.com . Didn't know how it is installed---it looks like it just slips over existing and into existing rear cup holder----maybe someone out there has purchased one. It says 5 minute installation--------so that sounds like what it does. Thanks everyone PJRACER
dittoprinter 11-03-2005, 01:00 AM Lots of info on the air filter and how to install, change and make your own..... If you have one in the filter tray from the dealer you are one of the few that would have. They do not come that way from the factory. Your user manual tells you how to install and change it. Check the tech section here on how to make your own and save big $$$ over the factory model offered via the dealer. The arm rest, most anyway, will install easily in a few minutes with a couple of screws. Most of the aftermarket parts and those supplied by the dealer come with instruction on how to do it yourself and from what I've seen unless you are installing a turbo kit or the like its usually fairly easy with tools readily available.
Welcome to the crowd!
elusivedragon 11-03-2005, 01:09 AM this forum has a large age range, its kinda cool really...most of the time i dont even notice age on here everyone is pretty cool overall anyway

Limey 11-03-2005, 01:13 AM Wow, I thought I was old - half your age.
Now you made me feel young and reckless again, I'm off to spend some money on something totally frivilous over at ebay.
moonray 11-03-2005, 01:22 AM Ya I 'm old too - almost a half a century -- but I'm young at heart too -- we have
folk's around your age coming to our meet's and they have a blast. We have a great
mix of young, old, and in between that come to just to hang out and talk to other
scion owner's and have a good time and that's what's it's all about!! Enjoy your
new xb -- Peace
Computer_Wizard 11-03-2005, 01:25 AM I made filter from a roll of carbon replacement filter you cut to size.
Got it from Lowes.
I used an old plastic filter ribs to make the front and back.
Here is one you can cut to size.
http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=149392-1361-MPABS&lpage=none
You can make four filters for the price of one dealer filter.
And it take the bad smells out of the air.

losmorob 11-05-2005, 01:06 AM I'm 47 with a Cameo XB. Welcome. I've owned and customized a lot of vehicles in my life, but there's nothing like an XB. Well, maybe the 66 VW Bus I had comes closest!
Tien's, Koni's, XM, armrest, gauges, bra, viper alarm, spoiler, lisc plate frame that says "Back off kid. This is not an ice cream truck." Lisc plate 2GOBX.

I probably won't get to check it out much until the following weekend. The xB is for SWMBO. I'll have to stick with my 02 Maxima SE with the 6sp manual. :P
Tomas 11-05-2005, 01:36 AM No problem, plenty of room. I'm not really that far behind you in age (59 this year).
Welcome to the zoo! :P
BirdlegsinAZ 11-06-2005, 01:58 PM Us "Geriatric XB Fanatics" need to stick together!
Welcome and enjoy!
You're only as old as you act........ I'm a totally immature 51!
hip2bsq 11-06-2005, 03:27 PM if there's room for me, there's room for you! I love this site! Just check the search if you have any questions. I used it the other day to figure out how to get rid of the annoying service light.....and Ta Daaaaa it works!
koalaty2 11-06-2005, 03:34 PM Us "Geriatric XB Fanatics" need to stick together!
I agree with BirdlegsinAZ. At 55 years young, I have enjoyed the box for 1 yr 10 months. 24 mods completed, and more than 25 to go. Enjoy the time you spend with it, and the uniqueness of it. Have fun with it.
xBHAWK 11-06-2005, 03:52 PM O.K. You know about the Cabin Air Filter. DO NOT beleive your salesman, look for yourself. Your Cabin Air Filter tray is empty.
See thread in TECH section called 'Fabriciate your own Cabin Air Filter'.
And Yes, you want the armrest that looks and feels like the fabric in your XB.
Go to sparks toyota .com (see advertisers above) and buy one for $72.
It comes with easy instructions. You can install it in 20 minutes if you only take two breaks.
And HEY..... POST PHOTOS...... anyone can say they have a box, let's see!
TIZZO 11-06-2005, 04:18 PM with age comes wizdom, if i knew then what i know now, i'd be in jail

How bout some pics???????
sailor777 11-06-2005, 06:04 PM To start with, I'm just about as old as you, close, but not yet. So welcome.
I am though, dumb enough to buy the stock air filter at $35.00. What a rip off. I went to a fabric shop and got some "cheesecloth" to wrap around the filter and make it last. Better to throw away some cheap cheesecloth than a $35.00 filter.
I do love my Yellow. #1477
Jerry
p.s. Next change is insulating the floor, then the doors.
