this was the most general spot i could find for this topic so here goes

i had an idea about doing a drive from nyc to sf and stopping at different cities to have car shows and do fundraisers for charity. thats the basics. now it has become more of a meet in the middle of the country so that everyone has an equal chance to participatecuriuos to see if anyone else would be interested in something like this. it would be for next summer and if coordianted right could have big car shows, or stop at shows like HIN or EXPOSED. u wouldnt have to do the whole trip but whatever portion you would want to. say, ny to cleveland, or l.a. to vegas. obviously it would take alot of work, and i wouldnt mind trying to coordinate it, but the 1st step is to find the interest level than everything else can fall into place. please give me some opinions. thanks.

and if ur opinion/post is going to be useless, refrain from posting and save some valuable space

I would be up for it... Maybe doin some major photoshoots along the way. We would have to put some dates together and see what time of the year will work best. I know there are a few guys in Chicago planning on taking a trip t oFlorida around the time of spring break. Maybe we can incorporate this somehow.

Ill check back and see how the interest is. A large cruise sounds awesome

It would kinda be like the power tour but with a lot less power, but think that sounds like a cool idea

ucyib2papi please keep me in the loop on the ny end of this if you really want this to happen. here on LI you have 2 of the largest scion clubs- SENY & NRG. i can only speak for NRG but i will mention it to rick or les of SENY next time i see them. between the 2 clubs we have tons of resources to make this happen. also you should contact urban racer, they do all the scion corp events here in ny. i spoke with them over the summer about a scion kickoff the car show season party at jones beach so i know they wanted to do something at jones beach, this may be it :D

I think you've got a great idea going and I hope to hear that it works.

What you'll have to do is make up a full route plan and call ahead to every location(not a big deal at all). What might be tough is keeping the crowd for extended periods. You'll want to be sure you've got coast to coast support because you might not get too many willing to drive from side to side. I'm sure you'll pick up a lot of people and drop off a lot as they decide that they've driven as far as they can and then have to turn around.

I'd love to be a part of this but I'd be one that could only go so far. I'd hang with ya for as long as possible but can only road trip so much. One you get a route idea, let us know and each of us as individuals can help spread the word in our own Scion communities. With Scion Life's help maybe this can turn into a HUGE event.

The schedule seems kind of rushed. There isnt much time in each city. I think it would be cool to do photoshoots and shows in each city. I dont know what kind of time frame people could stretch out to. Im definately all about this idea. I think its amazing. As prez of ScinergyPA I would be willing to help out with anything you might need to get this together. My dealership is pretty good about supporting Scion events.

I have Drove this Trip Numerous times by myself it will Take a Total of 5 To 6 days From Ny to CA and Back. That is ample time For rest and Driving Unless you have more than One Driver it can be accomplished sooner . Off course the speed limit get to be about 75 mph after Ohio Good luck its a long trip..I don't have off those days so I won't be able to attend. If you need a good map Your Local AAA can provide you with a Map that details all construction and road closers .

well, it looks like baby steps r being taken and i can adapt so how bout this. instead of having the drive all the way across from east to west, since most people wont do it, and some people in the west coast want to drive east,
I THINK WE SHOULD MEET UP IN OKLAHOMA on memorial day
still start fri or sat and do a couple of shows along the way but then do a big blowout event there

thats what im gonna go w/ for now.
thanks to the few folks who have gotten back to me and r willing to help in any way, i will get in contact w/ u more as time goes on

ucyib2papi
12-01-2005, 01:02 AM
well.... i know tulsa is pretty big. sucks there, but its big.

also, if u plan on drinking while in oklahoma, bring ur own beer
they have 3.2% beer boooooooo

LOL i will leave that up to the NRG team drinkers aka ohio, pa, ny chapters :D

FrankenScion
12-01-2005, 01:21 AM
 You got us there.

I say since we are already planning a huge event for June 17th, and traffic will be horrible Memorial weekend, you should just plan on coming to our event. We had already planned on making it a nationwide even and hosting it in OKC since it is so central.

It was never intended to be Scikotics only.

So come to Scikotics Asylum '06 and we will have a bigass party.

OKC huh??? hmm... i remember seeing the other thread(race style) about this awhile back...... I'm sure I can get a decent group from the PNW to show up... somewhere....tho how bout somewhere a bit more glitzy?? like Vegas!! lol... prolly mentioned b4 somewhere in one of the threads like this...
any way thats my 2 cents.... will keep an eye on this and see where final destination ends up.... road trip would be fun :)

FrankenScion
12-01-2005, 01:42 AM
Vegas would be a helluve drive for east-coasters.

We thought about KC to, but we don't have anyone local to help organize it there.

jennay
12-01-2005, 01:48 AM
vegas would definitely be a long haul for us here on the east coast. so if theres nothing really in oklahoma, how about texas? its a huge state, we have plenty of scion clubs located there that could help out...maybe get scion to help out since they did a scion exposed in tx?

ucyib2papi
12-01-2005, 02:41 AM
amarillo wouldnt be bad
the only problem w/ june 17th is its a saturday which takes away from driving days as opposed to memorial. true traffic will suck that day, but it would be nice to time it so we r doing stuff while traffic is going on
maybe we should have a poll to see what day works best

oh and vegas, would be great but thats far for alot of people let alone east coast.
tulsa times from nyc, miami, l.a., are all about 20-22 hrs drives

if we did the june 17th one, it would just be one show that day and people would have to meet along the way. which isnt to bad. then the ny people can come to chicago on sunday and tour (not much there, god i miss ny) or what not. just thinkin out loud now

i just dont want this thread to become what the other one became which was all talk about how we should do this and that but noone takes action

jennay
12-01-2005, 03:21 AM
NRG definitely wants to do this & is glad to help out.
IMO-i would also say memorial day weekend would be better for most who dont have many vacation days. i'd rather have fun in traffic than lose a days pay.

I've done routing and planned Caravans all over the US and Canada in my JBody Bash days. If anyone needs any help with logistics, or just has any general questions, I'll be glad to help out where I can. I can't really commit to anything with certainty right now, but once show schedules start getting nailed down and sponsors are taken care of, I'll try to save at least a couple days for this event.

kkawana

scion exposed in tx?
Yeah it was in Austin & Dallas

Exposed in Houston was skipped because Scion Expo 05 was a HUGE Success!
and u can ask anyone in Scion Corp. / Gulf States Toyota

Scion Expo was put together when we had a (Dallas meets Houston Meet) but i knew that in my mind that something like this was goin to happen....
So we have the blueprints..... its just a matter of showing up.

May 29 2005 was the day we had it, (memorial day weekend)

So how do ya feel about coming to Houston if we did do it on that 3 day weekend.

the only reason i didnt want to do on that date next year was because of the back to back event. (HoustonHipHop.com Beach party) (ive been putting and helping event planners from 1995 to now)

But ,this WILL COME 1st.

tho how bout somewhere a bit more glitzy
Houston is the PLACE to be !!!!

but no matter what date we set, Scion Expo 06 will Go ON for SURE and i would love to see more Scion Owners from all OVER the Coutry!

Thanks

There are always lotsa shows in OKC and Tulsa... as I'm sure Jon and the other OK guys can attest. There is plenty to do in OKC for sure. I have a friend, of a friend that owns a club there, so I could probably make a call and get us in there if there is interest.

i personally feel that okc would be easier for people to get to, since houston is that far south, but i wouldnt mind going to houston. lets see where this poll takes us, and go from there

ps - is everyone in agreement for the charity to give money to, be the one i mentioned? basically to try and get a difibulator in every school. maybe i can get duracell to donate some money since they have a commercial for it

ucyib2papi
12-08-2005, 06:29 PM
no, just noone voting.
true it would be nice to have in houston and maybe work w/ new orleans relief fund, but i think we may not get as big a turnout from other locations because of the distance.
hopefully more people will vote, and ill continue on plans once the new year is here, since people will be concentrating on the holidays now

ucyib2papi
01-05-2006, 08:05 PM
now that the holidays r over, bump to start conversation again.
i think the drive to houston would be nice, especially in support for new orleans, but i think we would lose people because of how far south it is. i will be meeting w/ some se detroit people next weekend and try and get the word for the se chicago people.
lets get things rolling again

did we ever finalize the date? is it still memorial day weekend?

ucyib2papi
01-06-2006, 11:58 PM
yeah i think memorial day weekend is best for people so u dont need to much time off from work. how does your group feel about a drive to houston? is that to far or would u prefer tulsa.
houston will have more to offer, but tulsa/ok city would be closer.
im going to start working on having a car show here on sat as well and then we can drive to wherever. is there anybody in the west coast that is interested in hosting a show b4 heading out to the middle?

jennay
01-07-2006, 12:47 AM
lol to me either destination is fine cause i dont know if i will be able to make the whole drive(depends on work & stuff).
but in my opinion i think houston would be better cause it does have more to offer & scion corp is out there too.

ucyib2papi
01-07-2006, 06:40 AM
ok, well see if u can find out from ur club if anyone is interested in going to houston, and know that if needed u have a place to stay at my house. not really on the way, but if people want vacation and check out chicago i got a spot for them.
if theres not a big prob then houston it is.

jennay
01-07-2006, 04:47 PM
all of NRG is excited about this!!! all chapters across the US :D
if i & others dont make the whole drive to houston, dont worry other members of NRG will. as we leave from ny, we will have pick ups along the way...remember NRG has chapter in every state along the drive route. so as people flake off to drive back home, others will be picked up along the way. also i will get in touch with betty NRGs texas chapter pres to see if she can help with the final destination spot, maybe another dealership? we have a dealership sponsor in texas, just not sure which one or where, betty will know
thanks for offering your house to :D

ucyib2papi
01-16-2006, 07:43 PM
ok, so heres my thinking now
u guys r excited about it, i know i am, and we have people in tx that are, but the rest of the country doesnt seem to be to into it.
there is a national meet in iowa (dont know y iowa but ok)
how do u feel about organizing something to coincide w/ that, then while we are there we can start making plans for the following summer, so that its a big thing. people can save vacation days, we can try and get more sponsors get more of a word out.

this is already set up for us, so it should be a success where us trying to do something may falter. i guess people r coming from cali to this event so if u guys came it would bring people from both sides and i konw some of us r going as well.
maybe the tx people will drive up too!
let me know what u guys think, its near the same time we were looking at.

Houston is the best place for a GUM BALL RALLY, Its in the Middle, but southern...
More about Scion Expo - Not Scion Exposed but Scion Expo
Its put on by Scion Owners.

Raising the bar is what they said… Scion Expo 2005 simply broke new ground. On Sunday May 29, 2005 - Sam Houston Race Park, Houston, Texas the event consisted of free admission, food & drinks, tons of give a ways, ice sculptures, best of show trophies, live dee jays and not to mention a police escorted cruise around the City of Houston, followed with our very own helicopter taking breath taking pictures.
Over 1000 + scion enthusiasts all over Texas came for this huge owners rally. xA, xB, and tC owners rolled in convoys, as many as 30 at a time. Some rolled in stock, some with all kinds of custom work. When it was all said and done no one left unsatisfied.

Last year we had a lot of graduations around the same time, and for this year I cant think of what better way to celebrate with Scion Expos - Club Kryptonite, So bring your dancing shoes... cause The same venue will be turn into Club Kryptonite.
It will be a sight to remember, just like last year.... and we are still doing our TRADEMARK 610 Cruise!!!!!
Last Year we had 250 Scion Vehicles and over 1000 + attendees....

After hearing a demand in the Scion community, another change for this year will be the added SWAP Meet Village, where Scion owners will be given the opportunity to sell trade and buy spare Scion parts.
A preview of whats to come!!!!!
