We had a good meeting with Quaife at the SEMA show. We are told that we will have LSD for the tC on our Shelve by the end of the year.

More than likely we will have these sometime in early December. We should have pricing in the next week or so and will offer a special pre-release price. This will be a great addition to your turbo or S/C tC.

This is big news for us in the drag racing concern, thought we would share.

Ah DUH, did not see quaife in the first paragraph. Good! I run 3:1 split torsens in my 4ag stuff, awsome little diffs but pricey! Expect a purchase price of $700-$1200 for the lsd + install. WIll be worth every penny though!

Sorry for my stupidity, but what is an LSD?

LSD is a Limited Slip Differential. It's the thing that lets the inside tires go slower than the outside tires when turning but lets both wheels work equally when you're going straight. If you don't have a differential, you'd experience wheel hop in hard turning. On the otherhand, if it's too loose, it won't let both wheels really hook-up.

So the tC does not have this?

No...why else would spend $1200 for one? The tC has whats called and "open" differential that delivers most of the power to 1 wheel which leaves the goofy "peg leg" burnout off the line or lights up the inside tire when coming out of a corner.

Nope, if it did, the price of our cars would have been more expensive.

There is no way it should cost 1200 though. Hopefully a couple of companies will make them and the cost will come down to half that or less.

lol, quiafe LSD's aren't cheap and will not come down in price. I've wanted one ofr my honda for the last 3 years. it has changed from 829 to 885 over those 3yrs. So don't expect to get a real Quaife LSD for 700 bucks.

I could care less about the price to get LSD on the tC.

The e-mail I got was spring 2006 for the differential /shrug, its been a while perhaps they are ahead of schedual and they are working on a gear box.

If you don't want to spend a grand on the differential. Phantomgrip also is an option for $350.00.

This is also old news, save for the date wich isn't concrete either.

I have used PG before and they are good on non-boosted applications, but don't work near as well on a boosted

LSDs are great no matter if you are boosted or not. It was probably the single most effective part I put on my other car.

the better question is, is it only for MT? that may be a stupid question, but i honestly have no idea.

I dont get it.. when a car comes standard with LSD, alot of people complain about it. When it doesnt come with one, people want it lol. I heard STi doesnt have LSD, am I right?

technically, the 4 wheel drive IS the lsd.

and who DOESNT want it? :D

schwettynuts

i think the wrx has lsd but the sti doesnt. I guess if you are into racing on the track you dont want LSD. I dunno

hunterUnknown

that doesnt make much sense though. lsd keeps your traction better. since it sends power to the wheel with the most resistance as opposed to the one with the least (open differential).

so that means you can take corners with better control and exit speed. wheelspin is reduced in all instances.

maybe im missing something... hmm

maybe you dont want lsd for rally maybe?
