Halo grille Install (finally) 56k yeah right
Ok. as i said i would do, the install to the Halo foglight grille. Complete with Pictures. Now in 3D (where available).
first off let me go through the warning, and liability stuff. I take no part in the modifying of your vehicle, if you break something, burn it up, it explodes, or voids your waranty from any of the information you recieved from me, it is because of your own doing. Also if you don't like the way that i did things. fine, you are entitled to your opinion, and if you don't like the grille i don't care either.
In this install you will be cutting the Fog Light Housing!!! if you screw up or hurt yourself, i am sorry, but not my problem either. (mods, if i forgot anything in the liability, please feel free to insert it in, or type up a better one)
You Will Need:
Your new Grille
Dremel (or other cutting tool)
Flat Head Screwdriver (thin for prying)
Philips head screwdriver (small head for removing small screws)
Power wire (whatever gauge you want)
10mm Wrench
Wire stripper / crimper (i have a multi use tool)
various wire connections, and joiners
Inline fuse, 30amp
Switch (either two seperate, or a three way toggle)
Heat Shrink
Can-O-Air (or blowgun)
Clean working surface
and a 6pack of your favorite beverage. (it is really hot on Guam, and i went through it all)
Start by removing your front grille. there are three black push tabs. just carefully pry up the center section with your flat head screw driver, and save all three. one is on the left on the headlight assembly, the second is on the right (same spot) and the third is in the middle down by the hood latch. save the tabs (you will use them on the new grille) you might have to open up the holes alittle bit on your grille to allow the tabs to fit in. i had to take a drill and very slowly open them up. do this a little at a time so you don't ruin it.

After you have the grille removed take note of the bar right next to the headlight housing. this makes the install a lot harder. first check where your grille rests when mounted. be careful just shake it in gently and make sure all of the tabs are where they should be. the foglights will probably be hitting that bar like mine did. even with the foglights adjusted all the way out they still hit, plus it looked terrible. so i cut the housing to them.

Draw your own line on the housing to use as a reference. I also unscrewed the wire piece that holds the bulb in place. it makes it easier to cut around the shape. Just make sure that you don't cut the LED wires, and mark what needs to be cut specific to your grille, and car. I believe these are all the same kits, and will need to be cut similar to what i had to) The Housing on the left is the cut finished piece, housing on the right shows what needs to be cut, roughly.
Alright, after cutting, sanding and blowing the housing for little pieces of metal and dust, it is time for the install.
Use the spring bolts, and wing nuts to set the light to where you would like it to sit. i have mine positioned slightly down so it doesn't blind the guy too much. (you can alwasy adjust them later) but for now, get it to look flush, or where you would like them to sit.
Remove the silver bolt right next to that metal bar (next to the headlight housing) this will be our ground point. After crimping on and heat shrinking a couple of wire "O" conencts, thread the bolt trough them, and bolt back (this is a 10mm bolt just like all the others) If you don't like this ground point, find your own.

this picture shows the grille installed with the wiring highlighted in various colors. the foglight has its rubber cover on it, and the black box is the wiring harness that came with the kit. the blue wire is the foglights, the green wire is the Halos, and the yellow wires are the grounds. The purple spot is where the bolt is, right under the hosuing, that i used to ground to.
you will want to run the wires from the far left (as you are looking at the front of the car) to the right foglights, and crimp the two power wires together (foglight Left to foglight Right. HALO left to HALO right. the run one wire from the right side through the firewall down to where you will mount your switch (give yourself extra wire incase you need to reposition, or recrimp some connections.)

This is the rubber gasket on the firewall that goes through to the inside. if you push a wire through here (i used the flathead scredriver) it will come in up near the pedals under the dash (you will see the wires easily, and you can actually see the inside of the gasket if you look up under the pedals) pull the wires through and give yourself extra wire incase you screw up.

now run your power wire (for this install i did a quick wire from the battery, i will be playing around with my fuse box, so if i leave the lights on they will turn off when the car turns off, coming soon) run a power wire through the firewall to where your switch will be (three wires total). hook up your inline fuse, with fuse, and then hook that up to the battery. use various "O" connects, and heatshrinking, to where you are happy with the connections. now all you ahve to do is hook up the switch and you are done.

I mounted the switch on the plastic cover on the left hand side of the steering wheel. It pulls out for easy access to your interior fuses, and is out of the way. You don't even notice the hole where the switch was, and it can easily be covered, disquised, whatever. Added bonus, i can't accidentally bump into the switch and turn it on. I went with a three way rocker (toggle switch) where the power is run into the middle, and then the two accessories are on either side of the power. You can't see the halos when the foglights are on, so it is stupid to have them both on at the same time. And i would rather have one switch than two, less holes to drill)
after your switch (or switches) are wired up and mounted you are finished. drink a cool one, relax a minute, then try and find all your tools. i am still missing my 10mm wrench. As soon as it gets dark, have a buddy, wife, GF, whoever drive in front of you or sit infront of you in a car and adjust the foglights so it either blinds them (FU Lights) or doesn't blind them (foglights). Then enjoy the Halos, foglights, and the look of your new grille.

finished product with halos lit up, and finished product.
The foglights are really bright (i have 100w h7 arctic whites) and adds a big pool of light in the center of the car, and higher. where the factory foglights add wider light on the sides.
Have fun, and if you have any questions, PM me, or post here. I tried to make this as clear as possible.

old carbon fiber grill? nah i never had that. i still have the stocker. I can't wait til i get my dual halo headlights. i don't think it would be overkill at all. i think it would look BAD A$$! My christmas present to myself is gonna be a complete Helix light replacement.
After lookin at those pics, I'm thinkin of gettin the grill.
But then again, my bB emblems are on the way so my front grill emblem would be useless
BTW thats one hell of a c/f hood you got there. Is that scoop on da hood functional?

scoop is functional but i am not sure why i have it right now. no intake or anything yet. i got the plug pulled on my xb spending until after christmas. my family needs present ideas, and i have to save up for Palau anyway. But yeah its the Only Seibon hood on Guam, and only vented xB (for now atleast)

after a couple of pm's about tech write-up how do i go about submitting this for review? anyone... and still trying to figure out how this was moved to drag coeficient.
Don't feel bad about it. I posted something earlier weeks ago about a grill idea, and was moved to drag coeficient. Wasn't sure if I posted in the right topic.
I guess any thing that is exterior revelant goes to this topic. From wings, kits, lips, bumper, headlamps (lol thought it would be in technical under Electrical), and grills. If its exterior, then I guess it goes here
