My first floor enclosure...DONE...Pics 56k (dunno)
Well this is what I've been working since about 8 this morning.
I had a 12" memphis sub in a vented box and it was tooooo much bass.
I downgraded to a 10" and made a space saver.
I REALLY REALLY REALLY like the sealed sound better...But that's just me...compliments the stock scion system very very well.

All I need to do now is build a grill for it.
My idea for that is to make an interchangeable grill....
So I can be dynamic I guess....dunno....that's still in the works...
That'll be done another day though!

it doesn't slide at all....the floor was super snug....
BUT....when i build the grill....the screws going through the grill will go alllll the way through...just to be safe...

I was sceptical about how it would sound....but being a .5 cu ft sealed box with 250 watts sounds pretty damn good in my opinion....I actually figured you could build an MDF box up to .75 cu ft in the tire well and still be flush with the styrofoam compartments.... mine is 15x15x6.75 (.55 cu ft) ..... This is the smallest box I've ever built and I'm completely satisfied.
If you want LOUD LOUD bass for like competitions, I wouldn't build this set up....The mission for this project was something not too drastic but enough to compliment the stock system (which I love anyway).

that looks sweet. like you said, not for competition but a definite must for nice sound and space saving. awesome job! and is it me, or is the speaker kinda sunk into the box there? it looks like the top is below the carpet. how did you do that because I don't see that in the other pics where the sub is mounted...just the last 2 pics?
1.) Yeh I wanted the sub to be recessed into the floor so in reality it is how it looks.
2.) floor is a bit hefty but not too bad...
3.) as for getting flats....
3a.) I drive to work and home and they aren't very far apart...plus I have a bunch of friends who'd help me out in the instance that happens.
3b.)I have roadside rescue
3c.)and on the rare occasion I go out of town, I'll throw a beachtowel over the floor and put the tire on top....
I can't wait to finish my grill....
I can't wait to show everybody...
Oh and special thanks to everyone who answered my bajillion questions leading up to this project! That's the only reason it finally happened. I spent many days drawing and drawing and drawing designs for this....I did learn one good lesson in this project though...measure, measure, and measure again....and when you think it's perfect, measure it again....lol
Ok. I'll be quiet now...I babble on here sometimes. Someone slap me!
