tC in snow
justl ike it says hwo dose the tc do in snow i love to snowboard so ill be driving up the Mt. alot and this is kinda a deciding thing for me. im inbetween an impretza 2.5 rs or a tC and i jsut want a fun lil car that can get me up the Mt. to snowboard durring the winter and i really like the tC. but it all comes down to how it dose in teh snow i guess so any input would be great THANKS!
It depends on the tires. I hope you don't have the stock Potenzas. I live in NJ and frequently go up to Vermont, and snow is definitely an issue in the northeast. I bought Avon Tech M550 All-Season tires, which will definitely help out in the rain & snow. Stock potenzas... i wouldn't....
It should do fine. Most FWD cars do ok in the snow. The stock tires are M+S rated, and will do OK in average snow conditions. If the roads you take are maintained fairly well during the winter, then you should be fine.
Dedicated snow tires will make a decent difference though. If you do a lot of driving in the snow, in places where roads may not be plowed or sanded, then they'll be worth while.

so its in the northwest. Mt. hood i dont know if you guys know of it or have been up there but im more worried about getting there and parking in teh lot and not getting back out... im gonna keep the stock hight for that reason but will cables on the tires help me dig out because id ont wanna get stuck there
If you're going to be driving up to the mountain a lot in the winter, then just get a set of good snow tires (Nokian Hakkapeliitta would be your best bet). Put them on a set of their own rims and you can easily swap out your tires as necessary -- took me less than an hour to switch from the stock tires to my snow tires, and I was doing it by myself. Get a friend to help and you'll be done in half an hour or less.

yah bro i live in mass and i bought my tc in dec...so i had a few experiences with it in the snow and it deff sux...its weird becaus ethe rear kicks out on you i but if you are going to drive it in the winter get better tires....
I drove mine in the snow over German town road last year and it did fine, but it was only about an inch or so snow, no ice. Up on the mountain it's going to be snow and ice on the roads. Do yourself a favor and get some snow tires. The TC will do fine, just drive like you normally do in the snow. Lots of room, slow starts and stops, no quick turns, etc etc.
But like you said, if your just dead stuck on driving with no concern about snow and traction, the Imprezza will rock in the snow. AWD is for snow and loose dirt and will definately be better on the mountain. The TC will do fine though, just have to drive it differently.

ok... I drove in VT last winter in snow storms with like 2-3 feet of snow and survived a couple on p zeros. Now the car itself is a fighter when i comes to the snow, u just need to get some nice snow tires for the extra little umph. Im goin with Blizzaks this winter on the stock rims and hope i dont end up in a ditch like last year (steep hill + low profile tires = idiotic move on my part)
