Hey Whats up? I was just wondering, how many miles or gallons are left in the tC when your fuel guage hits the E mark and the warning lights pop up? I hear'd from my friend that you have a 4 gallon reserve when it hits E.

 

My light turns on at 12.5 gallons used. Our cars have a 14.5 gallon tank so that would leave 2 gallons left for reserve!

 

mine seems to come on around 12.3-12.5 used. So figure out your fuel mileage and multipy by 2

 

Actually, it's an R ... for "refill."

But there is supposed to be about 2 gallons left when the light comes on.

 

im at 295 miles on Trip A (that is reset when filling up.) and i have a little UNDER a quarter tank....that 3,500 rpm going down the highway doesnt help much.

DO our cars really have a 14 gal tank?!?

And I've been at as much as 350 miles when the light came on. That was my 29.4 mpg highway run. I was so mad I didn't get 30.

BTW... while we're talking about mileage... I keep track of my mileage here: www.brianbauer.org.

I fill up and reset trip A. When I fill up again, I note gallons used and how many miles on trip A. Then reset it again and continue. It's about as accurate as I can make it.

 

You might get your 30 MPG if your willing to drive it till its completly empty. I'm just happy that it gets more than my other car.

 

Ya, I'm getting almost double my last vehicle.

But ya, I had about 20 miles of city driving before my road trip. So I'm sure that would have pushed me over.

 

If you want to be technical about it, it is "R" for Reserve.

 

Believe it or not guys, I got 31 mpg last week! Most of the tank was driving non stop 65 mph no AC (no need for AC) and not against the wind. At half a tank I was at 200 miles!

 

If ya wanna be smart about it, it is "R" for Running.

Cuz thats what you will be doing if you dont fill it up.. running !!

I can get 130miles on less than a quarter tank on the highway.

 

324 is the most I've gone.

 

I just filled up tonight...I got 371 miles on this last tank of gas. I filled up with 12.1 gallons. That is 30.66 miles per gallon!!! Woohoo!

 

No you can't.

The guage is just innacurate. You can NOT get 520 miles on a tank if all driving was done on the highway.
