Scion TC Regular Unleaded or Premium?
I have a manual and I can tell a difference. I normally always put regular in but every month or so I mix it up. The engine does seem to like the premium. Performance wise I do not see a difference becides a cleaner run ........this is why I use regular on a daily basis.
i put da middle one now. i was running on regular for a while and i can feel the difference. the engine idle smoother and i barly hear the engine noise,. but for acceleration i dunno. to me it feel faster but it could be mental stuff
It's most likely all mental from the point if your car is stock. It was made to run on 87. There's no high compression or forced induction for 91 or 93 oct. to make a difference I believe.
It's pointless to put higher grade fuel in your car...it wasn't designed for it. So essentially you're just wasting money.
The only reason you should be using high grade is if you've got a supercharger or a turbo that would require the higher compression.
Save your $$$...

This has been answered in previous posts but you do NOT need to used premium gas in the tC. The engine is built to run on regular 87 octane. You are just wasting your money on the difference.

I used premium after the first tank. My gas mileage is what the sticker said when i bought it. That is about the only difference that i noticed.

The federal government has regulations determining the absolute minimum for detergents in all grades of fuel. IOW, 87 has no fewer than 91/93 by law. Whether or not individual companies put more detergents into premium, you can only take their word for it.
yeah.. Premium gas will NOT give you any performance benefits at all. You're just wasting your money. Don't believe me? read it directly from SHELL.

but hey.. if it makes you feel better giving the oil companies more money for free.. then go right ahead.

if you have a supercharger, you buy 91 or 93 oct. (either is fine)
if you do *not* have a supercharger, you buy 87 oct. there is absolutely no reason to buy anything but 87 for our engines without forced induction.
