i dont know what your moneys like but stickier tires are always your friend. a nice lighter sparco is good. i dont know what class your in so its kind hard to know what is or isnt acceptable. but taking out the back seat, jack, floor mats etc. anything thats not bolted down, but im sure you know all that stuff. just trying to help. ooh! also lsd(not out as far as i know) , rear swaybar(got a trd, helps bring the backend around), better brake pads or big brake kit your choice, stiffer bushings. but really i think one of the best mods is the seat. once you stop sliding around and wasting most of your energy trying to hold on, you get a better feel for the things youll need to go faster. just my .02 everybody is different and have different needs.

yes, a front swaybar would help reduce body roll but, if your front bar is too large thfront end wil push through the corner. what i mean is that when you turn your wheels coming to a corner, front wheel drive cars will tend to go straight rather than turn. car manufaturers designed them this way so that you dont spin where ever you may be.some auto-x are set up tightly(small) and some are a little more high speed(well pretty good speed anyaways) but the fact remains that if you dont get the back end around at the corner, your gonna be slow or be a cone killa. either way have fun.

have you auto-x your car before? (serious question here)
if you never have its kind of hard to tell you what to and what not to get.

to help you decide on a sway bar you should go to the parts review area. it will give you some spec and reviews of many parts. i have the trd rear swaybar and i love it. it just work for me.

tires are another matter where people disagree alot! one good way to find the tire that fits your needs is ti go and read the specs and reviews at tirerack.com. ultimatly, tires are all about your cash flow and how willing you are to replace them. many people buy a set of 15" rims specifically for auto-x because tires are less expensive and they can put the 17" back on after the weekend for daily driving. late model 15" celica rims are supposed to have the same bolt patern but the ofset is a little different. newcelica.org have a few threads on putting tc rims on celicas. in these threads there are specs on backspacing for both rims. sorry if i bored you but hope this helps a little more.

It is important for you to decide which class (stock, mod, street touring, etc.) you want to run in and expect to be competitive in. The tC is so new that most people are not real sure what class it will be the most competitive. As of right now it is a H-Stock car. This class is very competitive in my region but it limits you to very minor tuning mods. The real advantage in most classes is choosing the right tire. HS class is one of the best for somebody who is just getting in to auto-x without spending alot of money to run with the top guys.

On the topic of tires you can run on the tires you use every day (not competitive) or do as havoc suggests and get a 2nd set of wheels with real auto-x R compond tires like Hoosiers or Kumho Vitoracers

The Kumhos are good bang for the buck. $120-180 each per tire depending on size. I can usually go about 2 seasons of auto-x and still be quick at the end of the 2nd season. And I'm saving my street tires from taking a beating.
