Default 04 XB IPOD INTEGRATION QUESTION

i have an 04 xb (no ipod connection in front of stereo). i have the 6 cd changer and i have just gotten a nano ipod.

what is the best way to get this working to where i can just plug the ipod into the stereo via a cable.

I just want to know my options so i dont get had by a stereo place if the conversion is simple.

is there an extra out on my stereo that i can just run a cable from and to my ipod??

The question is whether or not that head unit has an auxillary input somewhere. If so, you just plug into that. If not, you're stuck using an FM modulator...and those suck.

Do you not have the AUX plug jack? I have an '06 manual trans and it's right down there next to the emergency brake. Go get a male/male headphone cord and you are good to go. That's what I use. But then I only have the stock/generic single CD AM/FM Sat ready radio.

I used one of these(link) with an 04 single cd head unit. Works pretty good, the display doesnt function well and someitmes lags in controlling the ipod from the HU but its cd quality and hardwired...my only concern is that it treats the ipod as a cd changer and uses the cd changer input on the back of the HU, since you have a 6disc HU I dont know that you have the plug for the aux cd changer. Pull the radio check what connections you have and use the search button...this topic is covered pretty extensively ( i think there is still a link on the mainpage to the ipod2car installation thread)

you need to add an aux input, or you could get a dension icelink. By for the best that I have used. They are local to you as well, and might let you pick the peice up, and maybe help with install?

I have the 6 cd changer. I posted an FYI a while back on this (you can search for it).

it said, (roughly) that you can add a PIE TOY AUX to a 6 cd changer, (the thing that acts like an external cd changer).

It's only an AUX in (i.e., not a full ipod controller), but it works well.

It only does if you have an external cd changer. The built in changer will still work perfect.
