Mr_scion 10-22-2003, 09:22 PM do u have to take out the fog light to get the most hp? what is the engine cover made of?
scioninla 10-22-2003, 09:39 PM If anyone here has gone or will be going to any Team Scion West meets at Cerritos, check out my Injen intake, Steven (bBist) has one too as well as Ryan A. (Green Bean).
Steven has the cover on his car and it looks real nice and real clean..with the "Injen" logo stamped on it.
These intakes are NICE...felt a big difference on mine and the quality is top notch. I highly recommend them for intakes as well as the engine cover as well.
If you would like to see a picture let me know or hit me up this sunday during the meet. Mine is powder coated black, Steve's and Ryan's are polished.
By the way..Ryan had the factory upgrade intake (you know which one) and he switched over to Injen's intake...you get more HP plus the price is so much better...
Also, all three xBs mentioned (mine, Steve and Ryan) will be at SEMA as well...I saw Injen's xB several times when I went there and at the stereo shop....believe me..it's OFF THE HOOK! One of the nicest xBs I have seen so far with Volks, Sony, bBist CF kit....You don't want to miss this one if you go to SEMA....check them out.
ScionizeD 10-22-2003, 11:52 PM whoever has the Injen intake for the xB, did you guys get the Injen xB emblem because I didnt. I'll e-mail injen and see whats up...
scioninla 10-22-2003, 11:57 PM I think those are new..I am sure that they will take care of you.
greenbox 10-23-2003, 12:25 AM hey phill i didnt get that custom xb emblem in my kit how can i get 1 before this sat show
ScionVan 10-23-2003, 08:14 AM Any probs with the MAF being located so close to the throttle body?
eric_m 10-23-2003, 03:34 PM Any probs with the MAF being located so close to the throttle body?
apparently not, since the intake has been on one of our member's cars for over a month now and it's his daily driver. it's also been dyno tested and seems to work great. so who knows. maybe that makes the car run leaner which could be a secret to making HP, but without logging A/F and EGT between stock and the new intake, no one really knows.
squirrel 10-23-2003, 05:32 PM hey all,
i got my injen short ram, more like a CAI, from the group buy.
it took just over an hour to put in, and looks pretty good. i also have the injen RD CAI in my Matrix.
i didn't get the special Scion/Injen emblem either. maybe we'll get it once injen gets the reg card?
i noticed bBist.com had his car on the instructions also!
must be nice living in SoCal where all of the manfacturers are!

Well I think this is one of the probs with MAF cars, is that the sensors themselves are really finnicky, and inconsistent. I haven't played much with Toyota MAFs yet, but I've worked with some Nissan MAFs that were unphased by anything, whereas some others (same part # MAFs) could cause the engine to stumble a bit just from having a really open-element aftermarket air filter (this one particular car took a while to solve, but I eventually discovered the air being whipped up by the radiator fan was actually causing the MAF to wig out!!). This discrepancy in performance might have also been a result of the age of the sensor.
Now I'm unsure of the sensitivity and particulars of the Toyota MAFs, but one of the Toyota factory tech/engineer guys was telling me about how a factory project car he built had situated the MAF just a little too close to the tb, and it just wouldn't run perfectly, so that's why I was worried. What doesn't help is the fact that if there's some inconsistency in the sensitivity of the sensors, then such setups might work on some cars, but you're going to have those rare few that will experience problems. And it's really difficult, as the developer, for Injen to gather a large base of R&D vehicles to determine if there may be such problems. I guess this is one of those things, where if there is a problem in the design, will have to take some time to reveal itself...
Still waiting to get mine. But dam that motor cover looks clean!
batute 10-23-2003, 08:31 PM how about for the xA ?
scioninla 10-24-2003, 05:38 AM Actually got my Injen xB gel emblem special delivered to me this evening.
It's really nice and high quality like all their products.
Here is the disclaimer: "The xB emblem .....is not meant to withstand engine heat. It was intended to be used on your trunk lid."
Just to make sure it's placed in an area that will not ruin the emblem.

eric_m 10-24-2003, 02:52 PM cool decal. it's like those injen license plate frames. makes it easy for the cops to know you have illegal stuff under the hood.
j/k i know injen gets it's stuff CARB approved. still, i always thought it was funny when you see bone stock cars with the injen or AEM plate frame. like that somehow lets everyone know not to mess with you. haha.
i'm just messing around you guys. i think it's cool that they give you that decal thing. special for xB owners. i wonder if people in japan will want to buy those? hmmm.
Sgt_Scion 10-24-2003, 03:12 PM I just installed my injen intake last night and you CAN feel the difference from the stock set up. I Like it alot. I hope the get their CARB for it soon though
Mr_scion 10-24-2003, 08:36 PM how is the sound compared to stock and aem?
Sgt_Scion 10-24-2003, 09:01 PM Well I never heard the aem But its deffinatly louder than the stock. But I like it it sound tougher.
eric_m 10-24-2003, 09:03 PM i have the SPFR intake and it sounds awesome. i'm sure all the intakes sound similar. when you get on the throttle it makes a really nice throaty gurgling sucking sound, and you can hear the engine struggling to move the car as fast as you have requested it to.
JDMxB 10-24-2003, 09:13 PM Speaking of the SPFR...any plans on a public release yet?
And is the filter on the Injen an oiled one?
Sgt_Scion 10-24-2003, 09:17 PM yes it oiled
hey everybody im in the midst of install at the moment and i cant really get the vacuum switching valve (vsv) off the stock air box. Is there any kind of trick? or is it a force it off and if something breaks oh well kind of thing?
any help from those who 'been there done this' would be appreciated.
and no i didn't get my super cool decal either.

bBist 10-27-2003, 12:36 AM The Injen Intake sounds much better than the AEM..
Low RPM's sound throaty and aggressive.
Mid - High RPM's sound nice and smooth.

Phillip_Injen 10-27-2003, 11:23 PM do u have to take out the fog light to get the most hp? what is the engine cover made of?
No you do not have to take off the foglight for the intake system to be effective.
Regarding the engine cover, the material we use is Aluminum manufactured on a CNC press. Perfect fitment every time.

yanges 10-28-2003, 12:36 AM i saw a Note on the Injen web site :
A note regarding Cold Air Intake systems and Cold Air Extensions:
*Injen Technology Cold Air Intake Systems should be removed in any wet climates or on any wet roads or highways. Failure to comply with the above warnings may cause water to be absorbed into the engine through the filter causing serious damage to your motor.
what does that mean?
thanks
greenbox 10-28-2003, 12:47 AM dam the injen feels stronger than my prevous aem and yes tehy dynoed my aem vs. the injen. the injen is more aggressive when vvt-i comes into play.

I think that's just Injen covering their own asses in case somebody with an Injen intake installed on their car drives through a lake and blames the hydrolock on Injen's intake system.
bBOXD 10-28-2003, 05:14 PM Anyone have actual dynno sheets to show? How much of a gain was it? Thanks.
Phillip_Injen 10-28-2003, 06:44 PM Injen is offering the Scion intakes is Polish, Black, Red, and Blue at this time. The red and blue is at a limited supply right now. After they are gone they must be special ordered.
Thanks for your time.

sithscripter 11-01-2003, 05:59 PM Does the breather hose attach upstream or downstream from the MAF sensor? It's hard to tell from the photos.
Thanks!
mrlaypo 11-03-2003, 07:11 AM my friend and i just installed this in my xB 2day and so far im loving it! sounds nice and i like the little extra pickup it gives my baby bB
scionara 11-03-2003, 04:12 PM yes, I love this Injen Intake System. I love the growl coming from the front of the car. The car pulls harder. I'm not sure how much hp gains though.
TheRedBox 11-04-2003, 10:38 PM Yes feels good. very easy to install. Mid-high rpm range gains are nice.
TheRedBox 11-04-2003, 10:38 PM Oh and I didn't get my emblem I want it how do it get it!!!!
