Default My TC's here......but it's on the dealer lot

My TC is finally in, but I have to wait a couple days to get the rest of the finances together so I can go pick it up. Quick question though; are people allowed to test drive the car or anything like that, cause it's stick and I really don't want anyone to be grinding the gears or messin with it? They put the car in their inventory too, but I already payed the 500 for the order. Good times soon to come, and I'll be sure to post pictures since I'm sure you guys have never seen a silver tc before ;)

Yes they do allow people to test drive your car... they wont sell it to them, but they will let some redneck hick test drive it. You better get there soon. Luckily my car was only driven 4 times before i finally picked it up.... I picked it up the very next day they received it... They got it in the morning and i pickedf it up next day around 4. I was so disappointed with the damn dealer. I hate them for letting hicks near my car....

and my car is a standard also, hope nobody grinded my gears..... good luck man!

Yeah they will let people test drive. I was lucky however i told them i wanted no more than 5 miles on the car and i was actually at the dealership when it came in, so no test drives for me and there was only 1 mile on mine

If your finances are almost complete, then the dealer should have a "hands off" on YOUR tC. Nobody should be test driving this car. Looking maybe but not driving. Just get tough with the dealer and inform him/her that you do NOT want anybody test driving the tC.

I NEVER allow test drives on a sold car.
Personally, I would never buy from a dealer that would allow someone to test drive after it was sold.
At the most I might allow someone to sit inside it as long as the buyer didnt request otherwise.

Once the car is "Sold" the dealer (atleast a quality one) shouldn't let any test drive it.. I look at that $500 down as a holding cost, i.e. a form of a downpayment. That's atleast how I look at it, I could be theoretically wrong, but it should stay on the back lot.

my car had a whopping 2 miles on it because they pulled it in the garage to get all the stickers and stuff off of it.. but then again I got to the dealer asap it was off the truck.

They really arent suppose to. But the funny thing is, when i went to test drive a tC, the salesman told me you can test drive one that has a deposit on it already, but dont drive too far. We'll just tell them we had to drive to get gas. Dam shady salesmen!

Mine had 385 miles on it when I got it

They drove it from another dealer to Sparks Toyota/Scion in Myrtle Beach, and then from Myrtle Beach they delivered it to my office here in Columbia. I'm still glad I bought it from Sparks even though there are 3 Scion dealers here, one being about 4 miles from my house.

The dealer shouldn't let people drive it. Each time I bought mine, they put each of them in the 'back lot/storage lot' when I put the deposit on them. They both had 1 mile on them when I drove each of them for the first time.

1.2 miles when I first saw it about 4 hours after it was pulled off the truck. 2.1 miles upon final delivery. Nearest gas station is about a half mile away.

I would be ticked off if they let anyone drive my car that already had a deposit on it. But if you let it sit at the dealership for too long, I'm sure they will sell it. There is only so long that $500 will hold one sitting on the lot.

I am glad i saw this thread because I ordered my car sometime ago and it should be in between the 1-15 of december and I never would have thought that a dealership would let someone drive it before I pick it up. I will be sure to tell the dealer not to let anyone test drive MY car. Thanks again

Yeah I dont allow people to drive cars that have deposits on them at all. Sometimes other salespeople will ask me if they can take a ride in a car that one of my customers has a deposit on. I always say no. I do let people sit in them so I can show the features but driving is out of the question. Im sure I lose sales over it cause people wanna drive the car but I'd rather take care of my paying customers than some strokers who just want a joy ride...

It really depends on the dealer. I think someone drove mine around a little... Not a big deal really, because I was so happy to get it.

The dealership I DIDN't buy it from allowed me to test drive one that was sold to someone else. It wasn't a long test drive, we actually DID go fill it with gas, because the person was picking it up the next day.

Well I'm not so worried now. Today I went down to the dealer and was like, hey I heard my car's in, can I take a look? The girl I talked to first was all, "you want to see your car," like there was something wrong with that. Then the guy who I did the deal with popped up behind her and was all excited to show me it. Right now it's in their underground parking garage with a bunch of other cars, so that's a big relief. Now all I have to do is wait for my dad's half of the money to come in and I can pick it up!
