If you are having trouble staying logged in, or if you can't seem to edit your profile it is because your browser has gotten confused. Here are the steps to fix it:

Internet Explorer:
1. On your top menu bar click Tools > Internet Options
2. Click 'Delete Cookies' and 'Delete Files' (might take 2 minutes)
3. Restart your browser and log back into ScionLife

FireFox:
1. On your top menu bar click Tools > Options
2. To the right of 'Cookies' press 'Clear'
3. To the right of 'Cache' press 'Clear'
4. Restart your browser and log back into ScionLife

AOL:
1. ?????

This will solve the problem and you can go on using the site happily ever after.

The above instructions are for Microsoft Windows based computers and derivatives (Vista, etc.).

There is a conflict in the coding SOMEWHERE, but I haven't yet found it... I am doing my best, but until I can locate the bug this is going to happen periodically. Hopefully I will locate it soon.

Yes this is pretty lame, Id love to be a member of this site, but with no profile.... well that isnt going to work.

Originally I tried the cookie and files thing but it only worked for a short time. It would tell me I'm not logged in but my name would be in the list of users that are. Very confusing and aggravating indeed. Hope these issues are worked out soon.

I thought maybe somewhere with the site upgrade that the cookie from SL was being mistaken for something my adaware cleans out.
That didn't work because I did run an Ad scan, a trojan scan, and I rebooted my machine and for right now I'm still logged in.

So far even after deleting cookies and files it still won't let me edit my profile.
While logged in just going to my profile logs me out. I'm getting very fustrated.
It's this website and not my computer thats doing this. I hope it get corrected soon. I'd like to change my signature but can't. ARRRRGGG!!!!

I'm to the point where I believe it is just part of Scion Life having ISSUES. Sometimes it's very slow and others it's not. Sometimes I get logged out everytime I do ANYTHING and others not. It's just Issues we'll have to deal with I guess.
Deleting cookies and files helps but is only a temporary fix. Plus I was told not to do this too often cause it will lock up your computer so I'm just dealing with the issues. :tap:

I am working on this guys... it's a bug in the forum login/logout software. I hope to have it fully solved in a week or two.

since i did a name change i've not been able to change anything about my control panel.. signature, profile pix, avatar, all unaccessible.. i delete my cookies on a very regular basis so not sure what's going on.

it would also help if you guys go into browser history setting and set your browsing history to 1 day, you comp should automatically delete cookies so you wont have to do this procedure everytime

my browser history is set on zero days, and im still deleting cookies at least 4-5 times a day....this drives me insane!! it seems like no ones working on it anymore......cmonnn!!

Still isn't working. Works fine on my tablet which is connected to my router along with this PC, but not on the PC. I did the steps you stated and yet when I went into my profile, it reset itself and I needed to log in again. What's up with this thing?

This is the only site I have issues with... It's been doing this for a full week now where before it was fine.

Seems almost like a cookie expires too soon. Has this been fixed? Cause I know I can leave the site up and come back to it later and have to log in.

I've been having this problem at work and at home. I followed the steps in the first post and still no change. I can post on the forums and send PM's but am not able to get into my profile or even change my password, so I've been using this jumbled mess of a password from admin. :tap: I hope this gets better. I mean, my profile should be just as customizeable as my car right? Lol. Overall....love the site...just wish I could update my profile.

im having this problem.. i keep trying to edit my profile so i can put pictures on and it keeps logging me out and i deleted all my cookies and files.

mine just started logging out again. it hasnt done it in months..

for me it does it every other week on 3 different computers. what i usually do is this:

tools -> delete browsing history -> delete all -> ok

exit IE

open IE

once again, delete all browsing history, shut down IE again and restart IE and you should be ok.

sometimes that still doesnt do it and i have to log out of windows and log back in, then it works.

it used to stop after clearing cookies, but not right now..

you click on profile, and then right there on the top left corner, it says Blue_Batmobile's Vitals and then to the right of that there is an edit button

99% of the time the problem occurs with someone using MSIE on an MS operating system.

99.97% of the time it is cleared by clearing the MSIE history, and the cookies that have anything to do with ScionLife.com.

The rest of the time someone has a corrupted file somewhere on their system that is causing the problem, and it is cured by repairing permissions, loading a new copy of their browser, or fixing disk or memory errors.

One thing ALL these problems have in common is that they are on the user's computer and must be corrected there. :(

(Personally I've been on ScionLife since January 2005 and have never seen the problem myself, since I don't use any Microsoft products, so all I can do is report what others have experienced. OS X 10.5.6, Firefox 3.0.4 on my MacBook laptop these days.)

Yeah. between the old and new software we changed the maximum font size allowed in signatures because some people were abusing it tremendously.

So long as anything you are trying to leave still has too big a font specified, the system will reject all changes.

I'll go in there and "fix" you signature right now...
