now the stupid H&R spacers are backordered, going to get a pair of 15mm for the rear when they are in stock. question about replacing the studs (for those that have done it, Jomo, you out there???). when i remove these 4 bolts (blue arrows) what is suppose to come off? "A", "B", or both? and what is this thing (red arrow)??

ps. before the dark rim, carbon fiber hood, super wing, mega-modders start chirping... no springs, no coilovers, no etc. will be done.

If I am not mistaken, both A and B need to come off. The drum part of the rear brake system has the lugs come through it. so both would need to be removed to put the spacers in. As for the red arrow, the is the brake fluid line. When you are done doing the spacers, you need to bleed the brake system so your car can stop properly.

I have not done this yet, so I am not positive on just how to do it, but I do plan on getting the 5 or 10mm spacer for my new wheels when ever I deside which one I want to get.

It's been a while since I changed the studs so my memory is a little fuzzy. But, you certainly do not need to remove the brake line. You need to remove the drums (part B). To remove these, you should park on level ground and chock the front wheels or find a means to safely lift the car without having the parking brake on. You should also use jack stands in case something goes south. Once the drum is removed, you can see how the hub comes off.

after talking to a rude guy at www.wheelsnext.com that said that 205/40r17 would not "look right" on a vehicle, so he would not let me order anything except 215/45r17, which bumped the price alot, and you have to pay for mounting, balancing, and a "convinence fee". basically, at the end of the day the prices were higher than tirerack.com

i got mine off ebay from RIMDEALER. do a search on "scion wheels" search title and description. i was kinda worried about the whole thing, but RIMDEALER came thru, quick shipping, everything went smooth as ice.

$599.00 (ebay price)
$100.00 shipping (ups)
$30.00 balancing
$10.00 (cannot remember what this was for. mount and/or valve stems)

$739.00 to my door

i should have purchased lugs from him too, but i thought the selection at pepboys would have fit, but they did not. had to go to a place on bissonett and the beltway called Rollers or something like that to get the lugs and key.

$2.00 per lug (16 total)
$15 for key

$47.00 for lugs and key

so

$786.00 total

here are some runners up that did not make it to final cut:

Your Box looks great! Can't wait to see more of it as it happens. Also, I don't think you really need to lower the car much if at all IMHO it looks like it is right in it's sweet spot. :D

So does it have to have the spacers? What do they do just move the wheel out? Are these the same overall diameter of the stock wheel & tire? If you dont use spacers wont the stock lugs work?

It looks fine because it is a dark color.(cant see the fender gap)Looks good!
I am not sure which spacers you are wanting. If it is the H/R,you do not need to pull the spindle off. There is a type out there that people are putting between the spindle so they can get more camber to add wider wheels. All you need to do is take the wheel off, then take the drum off.You will see where the studs go through the spindle.(I said stud)
Now I have not looked closely at the Xb yet but other vehicles as well as Toyota's,you can turn the spindle so the stud you want to knock out is on the bottom.Once it is on the bottom, you can smack it out of the spindle. There are more gracefull ways of doing this as alot of people are taking the spindle all the way off to change the studs.I have changed many of studs this way and have never had a problem.
Once you get all the studs out,put the new ones in one at a time.Once you have one in as far as you can get it,put the wheel on and tighten the lugnut. The torque of the nut will force the stud into place.Take the wheels back off and follow suite with the other 3.
I have done this many times on many different cars and trucks.I need spacers as well and I need to egt a good look at how the rear spindles are.I believe you can do this without taking the spindle off.
I am in no way responsible for what this post may cause someone to do.
Enter at own risk.Your mileage may very!

take off the wheel, then take off the drum... you make it sound simple. and what do you use to take the studs out? a hammer?

what does the drum look like, and how do you take it off?

It is labeled "B" in your photo above. It should pull right off the studs.

The studs are a press fit in the hub, and I'm not sure if there is enough clearance to take them out without removing the hub from the spindle. If there is enough room, you can push them out by using a big C-clamp and a socket big enough to cover the head of the stud behind the hub. Put the socket over the head, hook the end of the C-clamp over the socket and push the stud out with the "foot" of the C-clamp.

I sense that you haven't done this before, and it might be a good idea to enlist the aid of someone who has been here before when you do this!
