For those who have purchased ...any comments?

I already have the Progressive Tech rear sway bar and the GTSpec front chassis brace---want to know if having this 'mid-chassis' brace will make any improvement and if so, if you could indicate percentage wise its improvement?

TIA...

The orange one is the 4-point brace, he's talking about the mid-chassis brace, the blue one. Don't get me started on why they have TWO items for the xB and one is powder coated orange and the other is anodized blue...? :tap: :tap:

I put them both on at the same time, so I couldn't split the effects if there was any from the mid-brace. The Box is handling SO NICELY now though, I must say, with the Progress Rear Sway, FSTB, the GT-Spec stuff and the 2 inch drop. The light wheels and Fuzion tires help too. The steering feels so light and nimble, quick to respond.

From what I read about the mid-chassis brace, you'd really be having to push a Box to its limits to notice. The other two interesting things about it seem contradictory:

It is said there are only 8 of these in the US, so it's rarity is nice. They also said to notice the two extra threaded holes on it that they may be tying into another product. My concern is that if there are only 8 of these out, is there going to be a big enough demand for them to design the tie-in piece? Hopefully they are working on the next part and then they will have more than 8 of the mid braces available then...

The mid-chassis brace is more for aesthetics, nevermind that it's in a place few people will ever see... If I start seeing posts about people's OEM mid braces failing, I'll feel more secure. Otherwise, I consider it a package deal and keeping my fingers crossed that more good stuff is on its way for it.

i recommend the trd mid/rear brace over any other.. actually ties the rear axle into the mid of the car.

I powder coated mine to match the car. I did the same thing
to my front and rear sway bars as well as my S-tech springs.
you can't see much of them, but they match. I think I will have
a mid/rear brace custom fabricated as I don't like what's
available right now.

I personally know the owner of GTSpec. He said the tie in product is still in R&D stage so there's no release date yet.

So, in other words, the xA got an Echo part that fit it too...

yes,

you will need to drill two holes to get it to fit...
but, if you drill them in the wrong spot it will never work...

lololol ROFL ROLF FRAAAAAALLLL!!!!

if you drill it in the wrong spot it won't fit? ???? NO WAY!!! like, you couldn't just drill a hole in the headlight and it would fit???

heheh sorry, i'm a little off camber right now.. just found this a hilarious CAPTAIN OBVIOUS statement..

it does sound funny, but if you drill the hole 3/4" to far forward you cannot recover from this mistake easily.
you would have to weld in a patch and redrill farther back.

some people would think they can just 'open the hole up' and it would work....

Magicman, it will be very EASY to install this brace! nothing compared to the front sway bars!

2 bolts and that is it. hardest part will be jacking the car up and put it on jack stands. :P

anybody yet who has installed it perhaps prior to any other suspension mods so we can hear opinions on whether it is worthy of purchase...

the only suspension mods worty of purchase are ....

rear sway bar

and

lowering springs

in that order.
everything else is just show points or self indulgance.

guys! read the subject line...

you are going off-tangent..the post is regarding the **mid**chassis brace, not the Tanabe front chassis brace!

here's the answer, it's been here since november....

here's an answer from partshippers....

i've done nothing but be truthful with you guys...nothing but. you would have to put the box through the ringer to benefit from this mod. until we tie more into this brace(notice the threaded holes) its more cosmetic and added show points at this time. Thats my honest opinion. Hell...people buy DC billet battery tie downs...at least this will or can be of some use!!!

more to come

hope these answer your questions. this post has been dead for over a month....

as for this
did u notice any difference when u put it in?
front was stiffer and turn in was better....

what?

wow.

coilovers kill everything
then rear sway
front sway bar bushing
c pillar brace

are my must haves.

still waiting to install my trd rear brace.
the rear "strut" tower brace does nothing the front strut tower brace did little to nothing.

I dont have the gtspec bar i opted for the greddy one instead, pretty much the samething in my opinion. Very easy to install, looks nice & also matches the front bar i got from greddy.

So I emailed GTSpec and asked if they were planning a product to tie into their mid-chassis brace...and they replied no. :(

guess that's why partshippers.com removed the mid chassis brace from their product list...

i tried installing the greddy rear arm bar, it looks like the gtspec mid chassis brace, but the damn bolt broke in half.

i would like to note also that when i looked under there it lookedl ike the dealership unbolted the stock brace on one side and pulled it to the side.

also would like to note that there are 3 pairs of holes for 12mm head size bolts lined up about 8 inches apart from each other. i'm gonna try installing it further back in the next pair of holes. i dont see how it does anything though with these puny little bolts doesnt look like it reinforces anything.
