Default Manual transmission Owners - Please help

I have a 05 Box that has 20K miles on it and the clutch is slipping. I have drove many sticks over the years and many of them have had over 100K miles before the clutch wore out.

I think Toyota has a problem here. Many have complained about the clutch. They are going to take a look at mine this week and determine if they will warrenty it. Right now they are saying it looks like normal wear from the way it drives.

So if you would please post your information here on your Manual trans xA/xB. Also include the following if you would:

Month/year purchased
Current Mileage
Percent city vs highway mileage
Orig clutch still or has it been changed
Thoughts on the performance of the OEM Clutch

I am thinking it maybe a bad batch of clutches or something.

Thx

Month/year purchased: February 2004
Current Mileage: 28000
Percent city vs highway mileage: 50/50
Orig clutch still or has it been changed: Original Clutch

Thoughts on the performance of the OEM Clutch:
I might be a lucky one, I do a lot of spirited driving and I've run my car quite a few times at the dragstrip. The clutch still holds nicely.

Month/year purchased: March '05 (original purchase date) September '05 (my purchase date)
Current Mileage : 21,567
Percent city vs highway mileage: 80/20
Orig clutch still or has it been changed: Original

Thoughts on the performance of the OEM Clutch:

I think the OEM clutch isnt that great. Mine is slipping into second. The previous owner wasnt very gentle on the car. Im about to get a stage 2 clutch put in cause I want a more performance feeling shift. Im also gonna get the short shifter cause the throw in these things is forever...

Well it doesn't feel like day 1 but there is still a lot of life left. I'm estimating 80k before i change the clutch. I'll get something better when it's worn out.

it isnt a bad batch....

the clutch and pressure plate are leftover echo units

meaning theyre designed for lighter , slower geared , normally less modded cars.....
put it in a heaver , quicker geared , more hp car and bam will not hold...

the pressure plate is the weak spot. the trd clutch package uses an oem disc and just upgrades the pressure plate.

Month/year purchased: september 2004

Current Mileage: 27,800

Percent city vs highway mileage: umm..... 40/60 ?

Orig clutch still or has it been changed: original on it's last legs started slipping at 5k miles just from intake, header and exhaust

Thoughts on the performance of the OEM Clutch : horrible. my clutch used to slip under hard acceleration in 4th gear on the highway....... now i cannot "scratch" second. and the clutch feel is insanely unsatisfactory now...

i'm surprised it still holds.

i have intakle, header , exhaust , lightweight pulley , and drive hard. but i've had more mods on other cars while driving harder and didn't have any problems.

It's not so much about how it feels, but what it does. If the clutch slips, the engine revs go up without a corresponding increase in vehicle speed. The needle on the tach goes up, but the speedo stays the same. It eventually leads to not being able to move at all.

-May 2004
-40,000
-Original Clutch
-19" wheels since day 1
-No clutch slip
-40 / 60 City Hwy

I drive as hard as I can all the time, and the original clutch setup is still holding up. I even taught two friends how to drive stick in the vehicle.

Hope we have helped you.

Thoughts on the performance of the OEM Clutch:
I went nuts doing donuts in the snow last winter, and I do drive it a little aggresively here and there. I taught my girlfriend how to drive stick in it (she barely grinded it) and my friend who has a heavy left foot drive it once in a while... overall she slips once in a while going into 2nd/3rd but that may be poor shifting on my part; I'm putting a short shifter in her this week and we'll see if that changes anything.

Thoughts on the performance of the OEM Clutch: I drive almost all in town/city driving. I've had my car a year and still have less than 6k miles on it, so you can imagine how much stop-n-go driving that is! So far, my clutch seems fine (thank God). Good luck .

Thoughts on the performance of the OEM Clutch: my OEM started to slip at 3,000 miles with just the K&N intake. OEM stinks.

my feelings on this: why get another stock clutch??? bite the bullet and upgrade.

figure about 200 for the clutch...
and 400-600 to put it in...

aftermarket clutch is 200-250
and same cost to put it in.

no worries in the future of another slipping clutch.
