gosh I hate it when people compare our car to the new civic SI... on every respect... it's a different class guys really. it's a minimum of $20,000 and from what I know, it's not out yet. That was like people comparing the RSX-S to the supercharged TC before it was available.

But I'd rather have an RSX-S for that kind of money, or a used WRX.

Oh, and I don't remember something like this so soon for our cars
http://www.consumeraffairs.com/recal...nda_civic.html

I do see this though, over 1 year after the debut of our cars and it's not an actual recall, but a TSB
http://www.consumeraffairs.com/recal...ota_scion.html

The Scion wind deflector tilts up when the moonroof is opened and could shatter and separate from the frame at highway speeds. Pieces of the wind deflector could fall inside the vehicle, causing injuries or distractions.

edit: oh, and the TC wasn't on the list because they didn't revamp it for 2006

If you read it, it's the line-up of civics. It's because they have the regular civic, the civic si, and the civic hybrid.

Who said I was comparing to the Si dude....

that award went to the base model of a civic, not an Si.

I simply stated the fact I would rather have an Si than a tC...

as for revamping....

the civic was losing its edge, they needed something new, all be it, who cares if we didn't "revamp" our car, i'll take a tC any day over a BASE MODEL Civic

anyone else think it looks like the bastard child of a Saturn ION and a TSX?

Let the masses go to the Civic in droves. I've been seeing too many tCs lately anyway.
I have to admit, the Civic looks like a nice solid car from what I've seen so far. It just means Scion will come up with better ideas to counter the next time around.

i dont like the current civic for its looks, but i want to push that thing on the road as much as i can.

LSD, 6 speed, almost 200 hp for same price almost as tC. who wouldnt' want it?!??! and look at the interior, pretty neat for a civic!!

.....and NO torque!

A stock tC can almost keep up with it and a S/C'd tC will destroy it (and still cost less). Also with the looks of it, my dog would bury it in the backyard.

Does the civic have California emissions too?

I wasn't trying to start anything, I was just stating that the award goes to the civic because of it's line-up. "The re-engineered lineup of Civics has what it takes to be recognized as Motor Trend Car of the Year.

That's true, but 0-60 isn't everything. The si makes that power in the higher rpms, so if you compare the 1/4 times, it will be quicker, I think breaking into the high 14's. The lack of torque and the high-revving engine is what's shown in the 0-60 times

the new civic is definetely nicer than the older civic, if thats what motor trend was trying to say.

our tC's still wipe the floor in almost everyway, with the exception of that damn LSD!!!

I don't look at any type of bogus award from any magazine since they obviously have favorites and some are even easily bought. Why would MT give an award to Scion if Honda pays more for advertising? The Ford Focus remained on Car & Drivers 10-Best list for like the first few years even though it had countless recalls.

recheck the link...15.68 is hardly impressive.
stock tC is somewhere near 15.7-15.8.
