Scott17 11-28-2005, 06:05 PM Nice driving!  That's the only way to drift on a budget! 2-wheel drive?
eXciteBox 11-28-2005, 06:16 PM its belt driven 4WD, ball bearing differentials (front loose, rear tight), harder springs up front, probably 4* of camber, all carbon fiber and stuff :P. forgot to mention: its an electric car running a 19 turn double motor and a 2700milliamp ni-cad battery pack

450xB 11-29-2005, 12:45 AM Hey Ive got a Yokomo drift nd and an trying to learn how to drift.
Magnus213 11-29-2005, 02:26 AM HPI makes some solid stuff. I have a Micro RS4 and a Nitro 3 Evo that I tinker on. Though, now that I have a 1:1 scale car to fret over, I neglect them. I have an itching to bust out the Nitro soon though.

Heh. That's what people on the old R/C boards had to say to distinguish between 1:10 or 1:8 and real-life cars :P

damn thats a HOT orange! i love it. mine is a 200 body on a 190 pro3 chassis and dont have the offset wheels, i just planned in making them dish wheels by mounting wider pvc tires to compensate...
khaye 11-29-2005, 02:40 PM you should check these out

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGL04&P=0
i'm running the second set painted black wide on the rear and regulars on the front...good thing about em is you can switch to 2 different offset just by flipping the inside piece
eXciteBox 11-29-2005, 02:52 PM crap i totally forgot about those... now i have to buy a set :P
khaye 11-29-2005, 02:56 PM they will fill out the 200mm body...i ran 4 wide wheels at the same time but it snagged the front when i turned so i had to switched the fronts to regular.
check out driftrcentral.com it's a forum but they have a bunch of jdm wheels on there as well total replicas of volks, works and some other stuff on the classifieds
L4rry_B1rd 11-29-2005, 04:10 PM Can any of you guys point me in the right direction to get into RC drifting. I know Im never gonna drift in the tC, so I need to fulfill my fantasy with the RC cars. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I guess you could PM me so as to not jack the thread.
khaye 11-29-2005, 04:18 PM driftrcentral.com has a lot of useful info. beginner forums to proper techniques and reviews and opinions on particular models.
eXciteBox 11-29-2005, 04:31 PM any decent 4 wheel drive touring car will drift well, depending on how much $$$ you spend and how adjustable the suspension is will determine how good it will drift though.
450xB 11-29-2005, 07:42 PM I have a yokomo nd with the hks silvia body on it and im trying to get into the whole rc drift thing also.
eXciteBox 11-29-2005, 08:04 PM i would recommend getting those soccer practice cones you see me drifting around in teh video. i got them at target in the sporting goods area. they are light and really flexable so they wont hurt your car or its body. they are also fairly flat so you can always see your car. they are great for practicing with.
the KEY to drifting rc cars as well as real cars is throttle control. you have to finesse the throttle. more often than not you wont go past 1/4 throttle. you cant just pull the trigger and drift. some of it is off throttle coasting to get the car settled in low speed turns to set up for the next sharp turn. always plan at least 1 or 2 turns ahead, dial your car so its predictable and youll be having drifting fun in no time :D

that was my serpent 710
eXciteBox 11-29-2005, 08:52 PM ^^^^ nice car! :D thats what i planned on doing with those black chrome wheels in my pictures, have the pvc stick out. i may get them tamiya 2 piece wheels tho they are pretty sexy.
i found pics of my other drifter, its a HPI rally with the shocks from my pro3 on it. box stock set-up and it was an AMAZING drifter...

Good driving !!!!
That last pic, it almost looks like a real car :P
I use to build Monster Trucks way back when, expensive but fun hobby.
Nicely Done !!!
Magnus213 06-08-2006, 11:07 PM Sorry to bump such an old thread, but I thought this would be better than a brand new R/C thread. I just ran my HPI RS4/3 Evo for the first time in a year the other day and got all excited about it again. Does anyone know what happened to www.hpi-forums.com? It used to be an amazingly useful board and now it's dead... I'm actually really sad for some reason.
Any ideas?
eXciteBox 06-09-2006, 01:42 PM it turned into a faq-forum and ended up sucking bigtime.

ElChupacabra 06-09-2006, 08:05 PM Yo D, we gotta run once Zach fixes my HPI Nitro RS3 this week. It just got setup for full drift. Im waiting on a new clutch now cause the one that was in there is shot...
Magnus213 06-09-2006, 10:35 PM I'm completely stripping down and rebuilding my car to get it in perfect shape for the summer. Can anyone give me a crash-course in setting my RS4-3 Evo up for drift? Will I be sending my T-15 to an early grave drifting about?
I'm tempted to just go with the PVC on the wheels, but I'm wondering what else I need to consider without spending money on the Stage D kit, etc.
Brent_23M 06-10-2006, 07:41 PM what paint/process to yall use on your car bodies?
05FMtC 06-12-2006, 04:36 AM i have an electric team associates rc10t4 and for some reasn, when i hook up the battery and go on the throttle, it is not constant. this was the same thing that happned to my old r/c (traxxas bandit) and thats y i bought this one and now the same thing. any ideas?
Magnus213 06-12-2006, 05:32 AM My rebuild is taking shape... I stripped out a few screws getting things apart, so I went ahead and invested in a full stainless-steel, allen-head set for the entire car, as well as new fuel lines, an inline fuel filter, and a new exhaust gaskets since I destroyed the stock one.
Has anyone here ever torn down the T-15? The piston isn't too enthusiastic about coming off of the crankshaft, should I just yank harder?
