Anyone get any ridiculous install quotes for our car? I went to two places and they wanted to charge me 750 and 850. That is for the zpi stage 0 kit. Then the first place tried to give me crap about the kit contents and that they wouldn't warranty their work because they thought the kit blow my motor. :blah: Man it gets tiring hearing people try to tell me what my turbo kit should or should not include. Or what is required for a car they don't know anything about.

honestly, the stage 0 kit has got to be one of the easiest kits to install...the hardest part is probly getting the oil pan off.

I've been leaning toward installing it myself, but I don't think I have all the tools I would need to do it myself. I might be able to go to this auto shop we got on base here that'll let me use a lift and all their tools for the whole day for only $20.

Yeah, you can install it yourself. As stated, the oil pan is a pain to get off.
The biggest tool you probably may not have is a large set of snap ring pliars. These are needed to clock (turn the exit charge) the turbo and pull the 2 pins out. Even this sounds more difficult than it really is.
Other than that, metric sockets, metric wrenches and a torque wrench if you can get one.

Overall I'm just not too sure about doing something this major to my car. I might have to leave it to professionals and not fudge anything up.

It's looking like I might try it myself after all. Some of my main concerns were finding out how to remove the header, which I found an awesome header install with pics by kaeon which showed how to.Well the other concerns I'll have to find out, are how to clock the turbo(I need pics) and how to hook up the oil return/supply lines, vacuum lines to the wategate and to the bov, and last but not least how to install my boost gauge, T- fittings and all that stuff. I probably would have been better suited for the army cause I need pics most of the time.

are their header removal instructions for the tc? ... i looked but might have overlooked them.
If you are unsure about removing the header on your car then maybe you shouldnt try this by yourself. See if you can find someone that you know that has some knowledge about working on cars cause the last thing you wanna do is mess something up and then you are scewed. Theres nothing worse than trying to fix someone elses mess up.

I just might take you up on that. I have the cobalt series gauges...but the phantom is a classic gauge and it might be fine all by itself as a single gauge. :nails:

yea, its just a white faced black bezel standard size gauge. I know you are doing all this tranny stuff and thats why I thought of you. How is all that going by the way??

Install the boost gauge first. That way you are set before the turbo shows up and it gives you some comfort or not ......to do it..

After looking at kaeon's great header install, it looks like a piece of cake. And if I mess it up I can just drive my girlfriends truck till it's fixed. She's going to germany for 4 months anyways. She won't know :lalala:

Sweet, you aren't too far from me. If you need help lemme know. I have a full set of tools, ie 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 drive sockets, extentions, 3/8 torque wrench, jack and stands, ramps, soldering iron, desoldering iron, all the PDF's avail from techinfo.toyota.com, hrmm what else. I don't have snap ring pliers, but looks like you got that covered. I also have a 120v gas sheilded MIG welder setup. Won't need that though, hehe. I have a dremel, cordless drill, corded drill, florecent shop light, grease gun, etc. Most of stuff you shouldnt need.
I'd really just like to be there to see the install process and to maybe get a test ride after yer boosted! :)
