From what experienced peolple tell me about the TRd supercharger I was wondering about gas consumption they tell me it won't be that noticeiable if you drive it normal but what kinda crap is that. " I am certain that anyone of us would be halling ___ all over town if we had that on our Tc. :doh:

So whoever has the s/c tell me what kind of gas you put in, and how often you fill it up

Well, most of my driving are down roads with a ton of cops just waiting for speeders. I'd take a different route, but I'd rather save myself the 20 minutes. Anyways, during the week, I get between 300-340 miles per tank. On the weekends, I get between 280-320 per tank. I've been running 93 octane since a week before getting the S/C installed. Like everyone else says, you don't lose much MPG unless you're "haulin' butt" all the time.


Best I've gotten so far is 28mpg on light driving (too and from work 80 miles round trip). Worst I've gotten was driving around DC for a few hours with 4 passengers. Got about 21mpg.

from what i rean on superchargersonline.com sc does not kick in unless its under full throtle that means unless you are constantly close to florring it you wont be getting too much boost on top of that add that the sc is a centrifugal one that meanis it doesnt see full boost till 3500 - 4000 rpm. so if you dont floor it all the time and keep the fast driving to the track and to pass soccer momin their v8's haha youll be getting close to the same gas mileage if not the same numbers, you will have to shell out extra money for premium though so you will lose some money regardless of how you drive

Throttle postion doesn't matter how much boost you get with a CF S/C, just RPM.

for supercharged. yes. and its not a choice, you have to use 91 octane or better

Before the supercharger, I used to get 27-30 mpg. My tankfuls since the s/c in order are: 20.8, 23.6, 26.3, 23.5, and 24.1.

My first tank I got 24mpg, but I was ripping the car pretty hard. My second tank I chilled out allot more on the throttle and got 26. Today I hit 298 miles of all highway driving the the cruise control set at 80 and when I filled I only put in 11.1 gallons which netted me 26.84. I do not think personally on my setup that it is possible to hit above 28mpg average but who knows!

WOW! Where the hell are you guys getting these figures from. I was one of the first to get the supercharger installed and the best I've gotten is 21 MPG. Sad :ponder:

HAHA! I wasn't knocking on your numbers man. I was just surprised. I know your numbers are legit. I do have the flash and I do mostly city driving. I take local roads to work.

You must be giving the old 2az a pounding, I could not get 21 when I first got the sc and ripped the hell out of the car haha

Thats what I thought, but the second and third tank I tried to go easy on her and still to this day have not gotten better than 21 mpg.

well, the roads I take are 45MPH to 55MPH speed limits with several stop lights. I really don't get above 65mph much during the week. Weekends I can take different roads with little to no cops, and higher speed limits. I try to avoid the Interstates as much as possible :p. Those roads are never kept nice. Pot holes and bumps everywhere, lol.

u should be saving gas with the sc unless u have bigger injectors, alot of people say they lose the mpg thats cause they get heavy foot when getting a big speed upgrade like that, if u drive the sc tc as if u didnt have a sc u would notice u save gas

The sc comes with larger injectors.

how much damage if you use 87 instead of 93

If all works well, none. You will knock, car will pull timing and all will be safe. If it doesn't all won't be safe. ;)

Really the only time I could see the SC having an issue would be between 5000rpm and redline where the high psi is generated. Combine that with unflash, large injectors, and 87 fuel... could be bad. With the flash however, I am sure it would be fine since the base timing it probably back a bit and the timing throughout the rpm band is probably back a bit as well.

Really, 87 should be only considered when you are traveling long distances with the cruz set to 65-70. If you are driving at any point of the tank to the redline or near it, you should run as high as you got available.

Look its very simple -

If your concerns are overall gas mileage or use of 91 octane or high fuel?

THEN DONT GET THE SUPERCHARGER, TURBOCHARGER OR NITROUS OXIDE!

Just put a couple of bolt-ons and be happy being slow, or buy some V8 car that runs good on 87 octane, that would limit you to mainly trucks and SUV's
