View Full Version : Pin striping suggestions
dinkjs 04-13-2004, 08:38 PM I will get the Camo green here in June once the Scions reach Indiana....my fiance feels it would look better with pin striping on the sides.......what color pin striping do you suggest? personally I cant think of any color that would work with the camo green as for pin striping....the stripes will be in your usual spots right under the side windows nothing on the hood
Since the camo color is a little dark and muted maybe a bright color would work for the pin stripes... white or yellow?
SUPASCIONXB 04-13-2004, 08:44 PM Thats a tough one I had some extra stripe tape laying around and layed a stripe on my xb :( I thought it looked horible it just didnt go with the style of the car. I got the opinion of a few people and they agreed. Glad I used that tape and didnt have someone brush it on. I would suggest you do the same. You might like it or like me you might hate it. Thats my 2 cents
dinkjs 04-13-2004, 08:45 PM what about like a pewter or a titanium grey color maybe? she thinks black but i really cant see that
camoboXb 04-13-2004, 08:51 PM maybe bronze?
xBassist 04-13-2004, 08:55 PM Black would be my first choice on camo for a pin stripe
White would look good as well, but if it were me wanting a pin stripe, I would go black
lukasbarton 04-13-2004, 09:06 PM I would go with a tan stripe and then save up for some katzkin leather seats with the camo fatigue inlay to get a military motif goin....or just go with the light gray, not silver stripe.
KoonsAnnapolisScion 04-13-2004, 09:19 PM Stripes don't look bad if done right. Look at DOC's Hot lava, while following him the other night I commented to my fiance how nice they looked. His run all the way around the rear as well. I believe they are a muted yellow color (don't kill me DOC if I just butchered the color), but they look great!
I would try a Silver Metalic stripe.

Mine is Pearl...and thanks Shawn....let me see if I have pics of the striped camo...
Doc
I was going to say go with a tan color also. You dont want to just pick a color out of a hat and throw it on there. Its always good to have it match with something. Maybe a chrome strip would also look good. You just have to come up with an overall look that you want to go for then picking a color is easy. You definately want to go for a color that stand out though thats the whole point of striping. Tan striping with tan leather seats sounds like a good idea to me though. Then you could match with bronze rims. Ok i'll stop now its not my car
Docsnuff 04-13-2004, 09:38 PM Here is a camo with a pin....don't mind me though, it was a Scion Rally Race action shot!!!

lavabox 04-14-2004, 12:30 AM Doc,
I just noticed the hyperlink to your car and I must say that is the best looking RS I have seen. Clean, Simple, Classic, and Unique. I noticed you could remove the tape on the windows, just never have seen it on a stock car color. Front tint looks great too. What color did you end up using? Is it a good match to the rear? :D :D :D :D :D :D

Thanks Ron, I am liking the way it is turning out. The front tint is 25% and we put 5% over the back. There are a few other things I plan on doin, I think I am gonna change the pearl pin striping to a silver metalic to match the grill and the rims....
But thanks for the comments, I wish I had 2 of them like you!!!
Doc
lavabox 04-14-2004, 01:53 AM Doc,
Do you have any plans for fog or driving lights?
gulp35 04-14-2004, 01:57 AM I think that a hot lava colored pinstrip job on a camo would look nice. Sort of like the bright orange hunters jacket over the camo, when you go huntin' .
honey huntin' :?:

who's this dude. Thats a sick pic! something we would do over here! :D
SCI_FIRE 04-14-2004, 04:36 AM You could do color combinations... If you have bronze rims, could do a light sage green with bronze. Or if you have aluminum wheels, could do a light sage green with silver or gray. The camo is pretty dark for black striping... would look good, but barely visible.
Benthead 04-14-2004, 10:37 AM Gold might be another option to consider with the camo.
Dirty 04-14-2004, 01:13 PM i think orange would be great, I was going to suggest it but someone beat me to the punch....
tronik 06-20-2004, 03:25 PM I remembered this thread and thought this how to (rough) installation video of pinstripe might help someone:
(this shows a barbed wire pinstripe install on truck)
