Default Are Tc floormats really required for purchase with the car ?

just pre-ordered my scion tc from capitol toyota. All I wanted was the base automatic model with the mudguards without the floormats. I can get most the accessories at lest 30% off online. But the guy at the dealership says that the $150 floormats are going to come with the car anyways, so it is required that I buy it. Is that bull or what ?

no, they aren't required. I had to select them to get them with my car off the lot. They're trying to make SOME money on you, lol.

Tell them to take out the mats and credit it on your buyers order. They can put them in the parts dept. Trust me we do it all the time.

I hate shady dealers. That defeats the whole point of the Scion buying experience. You only pay for the accessories you want. Just like the stupid etching and Scotchguard packages, tell them you don't want the floormats or you will go to another Scion dealer. They will take them out.

Yeah that is total bs. Everything is optional on a tc. I would turn the dealer into the regional sales rep and tell them that if they do not take them off that you are turning them in. I hate dealers like that. On the otherhand the factory floor mats are really nice

... if i get a unit in with mats and the client doesn't want them , i have a form they sign showing that . this way , down the road , they can't come back and say ..
" mats were on the MSRP & I didn't get them "
you don't have to take the mats , that's total BS , ask for their regional rep's name & # .
some dealers still don't get it !

I went to McGeorge Scion the other day and the dealer told me that if he located a car with floor mats in the color I wanted that I had to take the floor mats with the car or he couldn't sell me the car. Shady dealers are the reason they created the no-hassle program, yet they still show up on the scion scene!

I ordered mine without the mats. Ridiculously expensive. My dealer didn't give me a hard time about it

Some dealers don't get it. You're lucky its just the floor mats they are trying to stick you with. I know of a number of dealers that are ordering their cars will spoilers, mats and fog lights. That's the only way they stock them. If you want a Scion, that's what it will come with. Its a total violation of the spirit of the Scion agreement, but not the actual wording.

In defense of McGeorge, if they do a dealer exchange with another dealer and that dealer ordered the car with mats, they have to pay for the mats. If the car has mats, you have the choice of not accepting the car and waiting for another or you could pay for the mats. That's not shady on McGeoge's part. At least they warned you about it up front instead of waiting until you came to take delivery.

Most dealers will not allow you to remove accessories. The accounting gets all messed up. The new car department and the parts department do not share budgets and its extremely difficult to move money, even on paper between them. Some can do it, but most will not.

I'll bet that if you wanted to _add_ an accessory, there would be no problem with "moving money" between departments!

I love my floor mats...

Then again, when you buy a car in January, in a state that has at least a foot of snow on the ground, it's nice to have

I got the ext. warranty too...but only because in 10.5 months, my car is at 25k.
