View Full Version : I'm so angry with my apartment management

The manager is never in. There is supposed to be someone here always til 6pm and many times she's gone by 3:30. Last week she wasn't even here once. She never returns calls either or answers the maintenance pager unless you blow it up several times over 20 minutes

She knows we have several strays that live on the grounds, and then they breed and so hey guess what? We have now twice as many cats on the grounds as when I moved in.

She been in full acknowledgement because she posted signs in June for the tennants to stop feeding them and putting catfood on paperplates by the gate.

They crap in the carports all the time stinking it up when it's hot outside.

Today my boyfriend found scratches on my car. The xA has such a slope on the hood that some little furry uckfer couldn't quite cut the jump and it's claws of doom then scratched into my hood and made 2 nice lines in the clearcoat. I know this was a cat because my car is freaking filthy right now and you can see swished marks by them.

Now... we need animal control out here once and for all but I doubt the lady will go through with it. Several times we put in maintenance requests even in writing, we get no solution for A MONTH; she said she had forgotten.

I'm screwed basically. Animal control won't come out I'm certain because it's not my property, and she might even be charged for it.

They are wild, they wake us up at night with the cat fights, and now my car has been damaged. We have at least TEN felines here in kitten, intermediate and Cat sizes.

We went to go talk to her today about it because once you touch my car you suck a hard one, and she was busy with someone at 2:40. By 3:15 we went back down and there was the stupid sign on the door saying back at 9 AM

Just call animal control yourself as a concerned citizen, they are 'wild' cats, and they have not had rabies shots. They don't charge (at least not in this town) and so what if they did? Let them charge the old witch.

You younger pups might not remeber this, but it was Eddie Murphy on SNL.

Dark and lonely on a summer's night.
Kill my landlord. Kill my landlord.
Watchdog barking. Do he bite?
Kill my landlord. Kill my landlord.
Slip in his window. Break his neck.
Then his house I start to wreck.
Got no reason. What the heck?
Kill my landlord. Kill my landlord.
C-I-L-L my land lord!

LOL....you're mixing up his characters. Mr. Robinson was like a twisted Mr. Rogers. That Poem was by his Tyrone Green character. He was a prisoner poet.

I would by pass the manager and go to the people who own the complex, also if you have maintenance staff on hand, you might try them.

I hated living in an apartment, if it wasn't stray animals trying to climb
all over the car, it was others parking next to you leaving door dings and
scratches in the paint or lowlifes looking to steal something. I will never
live in an apartment again!! I would call the pet police and have them take
care of your problems - your apt. manager sounds like a :loser: Good luck

You show evidence that you've made good-faith efforts to contact and complain to the manager. Make letters. Be indignant. Take pictures of the paint damage. Request compensation.

When you don't get compensation or positive response, take your complaint and a re-coat estimate to small claims court.

IN the meanwhile, cover your car with a blanket while parked. Spray that blanket with cat/dog repellant. Keep copies of your receipts for these expenses.

File complaint with Animal Control.

I don't think management is likely to do the right thing.
So if that is the case, go to small claims court but have all your documentation. Letters, registered, are best ammo.

Be calm and matter of fact. Make your case to her, first. And then take the next needed steps.

sorry for all that hell you're getting. oww.

Am thinking, yes, that's one way. But her paint is damaged now. The manager -is- responsible. The manager is the landlord's duly appointed representative. Going through the maintenance men might subvert her case. Besides, she should not -have- to bypass normal protocol. The maintenance crew is not beholden to her; the management is now in that spot. She is owed.

Wow that sucks big time.. I bet if your late with the rent she is quick to be at your door though. What a Bi**h.. I used to work for a 1200 until apartment complex and the rental manager there was the same way. She loved to rent them out get praise for all these people moving in but cared nothing about having maintenance come out to do something. But she was quick to make herself look good and maintenance look bad when the city got on her.. I agree with Scifly do what he said as far as the car. As far as the cat problem screw it go over her head get as many of the fellow tenants as you can to sign a petition like document and get the animal control to come in there and take them all out. If that doesn't work go to the local animal shelter and adopted 2 of the meanest dogs and set them loose in your apartment ground.. Best of luck..

Take lots and lots of pictures, then start sending CERTIFIED letters to her, the building owners AND make sure you send a copy to whatever passes for a housing authority in your area. This will get her off her ___.

Also, since the cats are 'wild' you might want to call animal control yourself and let her deal with the consequences. Didn't you notice that one of the cats was acting kind of funny and hostile towards people? *HINT HINT*

A rabies scare will get the authorities moving very fast and all kinds of agencies will get involved.

Someone beat me to it. Place several small bowls of straight anti-freeze out preferrably near where they nest or near trash cans. Anti-freeze is sweet to samll animals, yet very toxic. The felines should be expiered within 24 hrs.

The property manger .. she has a boss. Find out who it is and contact them directly. Chances are that who ever made the hours for management to be there doesnt know that she isnt there. She may even have the phone calls to the office directed to her cell and answer when her boss calls to see if she is there. You could go as far as to pick some random days and take pics with a time and date stamp on them to show that she is not there up to the posted times.

*** FYI *** i do love animals, but you have to draw a line in the sand somewhere. IF animal rescue does come out chances are that they will youthenize the cats within days cause they are wild.

I contacted them directly a month or two ago. the best we've gotten to the situation was them putting out notices here that there would be cat traps set.

I call bull.

There are still cat prints on my windshield :|

apartment managers think they are important, but really there is no skill in thier job, they get paid for crap usually, and the people they find are about as smart as the fry cooks at mc donalds, best thing to do is complain to the apartment managment company, in writing stating times, and dates of issues, and deficencies in her job thus far, i did and i was let out of my lease 4 monthes early and even got my full deposit back when i complained the manager lied about somthing.........

Two problems with that. First of all, there's no way of making sure that only the troublesome strays get in to it. Someone's beloved pet could wander over by it too.
Secondly, it's a terrible way for an animal to die. They suffer big-time. Please don't ever do that.
