Default Salsa Red xB Delayed Until January

I just heard from my Scion dealer that the Salsa Red xB expected to be on todays inventory allocation will not be available until January. The Toyota rep gave no reason for the delay.

All I can say is...poop. Waiting 4 weeks so far, guess I'll wait another 4-6. I'm told Toyota does stuff like this quite a bit. Fun? Not so much.

Well, for your sake, I hope for your sake the as-of-now mythical Salsa Red xB with Steering Wheel Audio Controls doesn't turn into the Holy Grail.

Um, this vehicle has never been scheduled to be out before the end of December. Your salesperson just got it wrong.

This most recent allocation did contain the LAST of the BCP xBs though. So, if you still want BCP, get it now or forever hold your peace (or piece depending on your attitude ).

BCP is being discontinued ? I thought it was Cammo. Is there any proof of this ?

My dealer told me that BCP and Camo are being replaced by Salsa red and Flint Mica... But I don't go and say this stuff on the boards because I don't believe it until I see it.. And you shouldn't either ;P

The color changes will happen, I'm still not 100% sure about the steering wheel controls.

BCP AND Camo are both leaving us to be replaced by Salsa Red and Shadow Grey. As I said, we will see the first allocation of these probably on the 15th, but maybe on the 3rd (of January).

This is fact. I have to know this stuff since this is what I do.

So, like I said, if you're looking for BCP or Camo, get it NOW!

Go to the dealership and look at the paint chips for the 2006 Corolla. Both new colors can be seen there.

Also, CONFIRMED, steering wheel controls for 2006 xBs starting this month. For the non-believers, it's on page 39 of my Scion Product Reference Guide that arrived on my desk today (colors are on page 40).

You are right That should have been an xB color right from the start. They need to get away from ALL the dark colors.

Alex,

This info is coming from the Scion district rep. He told my dealer that the salsa red was supposed to be on the Dec 1st allocation. Then on Dec 1st he then told my dealer that they wouldn't be available until Jan.

I have a feeling that Scion doesn't even know when it will be out. LOL.

So when you Scion dealers get your inventory allocations, does that mean another 4-6 weeks until it hit your lots? Just trying to gauge actual ETA to an Oklahoma City dealer....

It really depends on where you are in the US and where the car is that is allocated. I'm getting a little technical here, but sometimes the cars allocated are sitting at port (Portland, OR) which takes about 2-3 weeks to deliver to IA. Other times the cars are still in JAPAN or are on the boat to Portland. These take a very variable amount of time and are usually 3-6 weeks out from the dealership. OK City is probably around 2 weeks from the port, but it really depends on what is allocated to your region and where it is when it is allocated.

Rich-
Well, my regional rep has been really consistant in telling me not to expect these new colors to hit the dealership before the new year. I guess the different guys work differently. Oh well!

I seriously think someone at Scion Corp sits back and gets off on all the DRAMA that things like this cause. I wonder what the next snafu will be?

USPS is gov (aka the man)
and those trucks are produced that way specifically for that reason.

what I mean is I'm pretty sure there's something that prevents production cars from being RHD
