View Full Version : People point & stare but someone tried to make me pull o
Hot_Lava_Short_Bus 04-14-2004, 10:21 PM That's right, this maniac is driving next to me wanting me to stop in the middle of the street :?
So, here's the story. I'm just cruising along on my why back to work and notice a car speeding up behind me. Then the driver starts honking at me and gets along side of me (he is driving against on-coming traffic and still honking) trying to get me to stop. Normally I'll just roll down my window, but since I just had my windows tinted the previous day (and we all know that we shouldn't roll the windows down for a few days). I continue straight ahead until the stop sign and then I open the door to see what the hell he wants. Well, he is all worked up and excited and he asks me how much it costs. So I says to him "More than you could afford pal, SCION !!"
Well, not really, I didn't think of it at the time with me being ____ed off at the moment. Plus I bet he doesn't speak english.
I mean come on, you don't stop people for things like that. I could understand if the car is parked and you walk up to a person and start up a convo or something but this is nonsense. Hence the Cuba location, that's Miami for you
My initial reaction was that my fuel door was open or something of that nature.
Anybody experience anything similiar ?
tbblizzard 04-14-2004, 10:27 PM when i first got my xa, me and my girl were in my car and this guy in a truck pulls up next to us and honks then starts gesturing to roll down the window. i roll it down he stares, says yea thats right, roll down the window... i look at my girlfriend like wtf? and then he asks what kinda car it is and how much. i tell him, i roll up the windows and say wtf one more time and keep driving. some people are too much asking while you're driving and stuff. we were doin at least 40-50 and he's trying to talk to me.
xBassist 04-14-2004, 10:29 PM This type of thing has happened to me 3 times so far... But always in a safe manner, at a stoplight ;P
MotoMan_YZ400 04-14-2004, 10:56 PM I get the same thing, a few people asking to drive it?!?!? Well i think the best is so far i had about 3 Honda Elements honk and wave at me, like i had the same car as them and they had to wave to thier fellow Element buds. Well first i wouldnt drive that ugly piece of plasic; and second, yes you could kinda get them mixed up if you squint one eye, turn your head to the left and while hitting yourself in the head w/ a brick (which you should do if you call an Xb an Element!) :!:
badbasic 04-14-2004, 11:12 PM Doesn't even faze me anymore after 3 weeks. I just tell them about this site and the dealer to go see.
Toy_xbox 04-14-2004, 11:17 PM I had a couple follow me around Ontario Mills Mall parking lot (huge mall in California) for about 3-5 minutes. I was trying to lose them but every time I looked back there they were no hand gestures nothing. So I got away and parked then started walking to the mall looking back as I went I turned around there they were driving right towards me. Kinda got a twilight zone feeling, but it was cool they wanted to know if it was a electric car because of the bB logo I had instead of the xB...
Futureicon 04-14-2004, 11:17 PM I was turning right at a busy intersection and this woman was turning left, across trafic. She stopped in the middle of the intersection and started signalling me to roll down my window. I paused for a split second before I came to my senses and drove off. What a nut.
Sid_xBicious 04-14-2004, 11:27 PM is it hard to answer back this simple questions? who knows you might find your car trashed by this people if you ____ed them off.
i always try to accomodate their inquiring minds, well coz i'm too proud of what i have :D

Damn, i would love to have my birth year on my RS1. Wanna trade plaques?
kwicslvr 04-15-2004, 12:04 AM I'm always being approached about it. More in the RS1.0 than in my BOP.
xBSciontist 04-15-2004, 03:43 AM I had a few incidents where a person would tell me to roll down my window to ask questions about the xB. I kindly obliged. And I had this kid jump on his mom's lap in the front seat and yell out of the window..."Cool car!" But, the strangest look I got was when I was at a stop at an intersection and some hillbilly looking guy w/ his cowboy hat gave me a thumbs up. I was like ...."whoa! shouldn't he be giving a 4x4 truck a thumbs up" I look around and don't see a truck. It was cool. : )
llamabob 04-15-2004, 11:46 AM i was thinking about this the other day....i get stopped and asked about the car often. and i didnt make it any better being that i have Hot Lava and i debadged te rear of the car. plus the fact that it has the billet grill doesnt help. so i have people asking all the time what kind of car it is. the most annoying is when people ask to sit in it.....then they fart or something... sux :x

ROFL
Nothing like an early morning before work laugh.
tbblizzard 04-15-2004, 02:08 PM happened again yesterday... older guy in a protege, i'm sure it was running something under the hood cause i could hear what sounded like a whinning sound, maybe turbo... asked me some questions, price, and said looks good, when the light turned green he took off like no other. tried to catch up, but lost him. my car is soooo damn slow!
gulp35 04-15-2004, 02:44 PM Yeah that was probably the Mazdaspeed Protege. What Color was it?
That is the other car I want to get , and now that I would have to buy it used it would cost about as much as the xB with all the aftermarket stuff I want to get for it. (17,000)
tbblizzard 04-15-2004, 03:08 PM don't think it was the speed, didn't have all the sparco crap in the interior or the rims... unless he took them off... it was dark blue.
i drove the mazdaspeed.. felt slow for having a turbo in it. nice that it comes with all that aftermarket stuff already installed and it's only like 2500 more than a regular protege... lol, good deal. i was looking at them a while back, was out of my budget back then. do they even make protoge's anymore? i don't see it listed on their website anymore, just the 3 and the 6... the other cars don't matter. :D
gulp35 04-15-2004, 03:12 PM They don't make the Protege anymore, it was replaced by the 3 series.
The problem with the protege is that they didn't want to give it a stronger clutch and tranny to cope with more power.
Some people (well actually a lot of people) on the Mazdaspeed Protege forums tune it so it runs up to an average 13psi ( over about 5-7 psi stock).
I think that it looks better than its main competition, the SRT-4, Its ___ is too high in the air.

Welcome to the "What Kind of car is that club"
Now that I have my hotlava I get people looking at it... asking all the basic questions... oh and wanting to know where they can get one...
So yes... I think we all experience this once in awhile... Just enjoy it...
