I saw those--all they are are the Projector units that everyone else can get.

People call them "JDM STYLE" which i have no idea what that means...but anyway

Darkside carries the OEM JDM authentic bB headlights--that's what he was asking for i believe.

Being I've been putting JDM parts on my xB, I've been told that the JDM headlamps will fit but the sockets for the lamps will need to be modified. If I recall, they will need to be opened somewhat.

you have to do that to the projector headlights that scionfx and bbist sells. the slot needs to be opened up to fit the bulb that comes with the kit.

JDM style is just a catch phrase. I don't see the big deal over these, IMO those lights look like ___.

Folks, you _don't_ want JDM headlights on a US vehicle. Japan drives on the left side of the road, so their headlights are designed to illuminate the left side more than the right side. Using these lights in our "drive on the right" country will dazzle the vision of oncoming drivers.

Do _you_ like it when some Bozo comes driving along with glaring headlights? Don't be that Bozo! Bright is fine, but keep the beam where it belongs.

Even in Hawaii, you don't drive on the left side like they do in Japan, JDM headlights are illegal and discourteous to other motorists. It isn't the matter of how the lights look, it's how they are designed to project light:

Now, if you can find lights that look like JDM lights but have lenses and reflectors made for the US things will be fine. This is a case where "JDM style" is better than real JDM parts as long as they are designed for folks who drive on the right.

If you Google on the string "RHD LHD beam pattern" you will get lots of food for thought.

Hey guys, the reason for the projectors being called JDM is that the projectors are from Japan and were made for the Japanese market. The lights on our website were imported from a distributor in Japan.

As far as this "blinding on coming traffic", the situation is blown out of proportion. The beam on all headlights have adjustable knobs to lower and raise the position.

Simple as reading a little bit below you man.

You thought the m4D tyT3 pRojEktORz were "JDM Headlights"--and obviously the guy wanted OEM ones...which is what everyone else seems to understand.

Don't get mad at me because you were wrong! And how is being helpful directing him to a site that doesn't even carry them--let alone the guy above you posted a correct link in the first place?

My bro-in-law has JDM headlights on his 01 Rav4...the all clear and the duals and the way you say how dangerous it is to have for oncoming traffic is untrue. The difference on USDM and JDM are minimal. Have you seen one in real life or compared the two after a JDM HL install? Those HIDs from BMWs are just as bad. Its his $$$ and his car let him do what he please if he gets a ticket from it..."so be it"(my bro-in-laws comment), its a risk he/she is willing to take.

I realize that you have a vested interest in minimizing the difference between RHD and LHD headlights, but that doesn't change the way the lights work.

RHD headlights have a low beam that sweeps upward on the left side (curb side in Japan). LHD headlights have a low beam that sweeps upward on the right side (curb side in the US). Take a look at the beam pattern photos and the difference is apparent. If you are the oncoming driver in the upturned left side of the RHD beam, you will be dazzled.

The shape of the beam is _not_ affected by the up/down adjustment of the light.

If you adjust JDM headlights low enough so that they don't dazzle oncoming traffic in LHD countries, you will adjust the right side of the beam so low that it won't illuminate the curb area properly. You can easily tell when someone has done this, as the light makes a "hot spot" directly in front of the car.

Either situation, glare or improper illumination, is dangerous. It may not be significant to the person using the lights, but the rest of us pay for their ignorance.

If you're going to spend $$$ to mod the lights, shouldn't they work at least as well as stock?

If I'm not mistaken ...JDM = Japanese Domestic Market
The big deal about JDM items are that most of the time they don't come stateside, thus making your car look rare/ different. Look how long we had to wait for the Evo...and some of us are still waiting for the Skyline. Most of us don't want our XB/XA to look like the next person's so the only way to go is to import from over seas. Everybody take a deep breath and just relax. :D

Seriously tho, how long would you have to stare onto oncoming traffic to get distracted? If both cars are going 45mph how long wll it take until each car passes each other? I have passed by my bro-in-law numerous times with either my xB or my CRX and I do not see or notice the difference even when he hi-beams to say wassup. I really don't think its such a big deal with the way your making this tread to be.

Are you one of two people on the island to have a Xb....I have seen 2 of them now. A silver one and a black one. If you are free sometime can I check your ride out if you have one yet. I am anxious for July to role around so I can hit the dealership to get an 05' if I like what I see.

Thanks.......Jason in Waikiki.
