i'm new to the car scene and i don't know much about turbo/superchargers. i wanted an xb to a total sleeper (no aftermarket exhaust) and i was wondering which way would be better? with no exhaust, will this hamper the performance of the turbo or supercharger? i heard that if a turbo breaks, it's still possible to drive the car. but if the same happens with a supercharger, the entire engine goes down, is this true?

The answer to both of your questions is yes and no. Yes a factory exhaust will most likely give you the max performance gain that an aftermarket exhaust will allow you, however it will most likely still be tons better than factory.
Turbo vs super is different. Either can "break" in a manner that you could have objects being injested into the engine. Lets say you meant "both can sieze up, yet allow the engine to run". Again its possible for either scenario to be true. Superchargers adn turbos both are pretty tight internally, so there isn'[t really a lot of air that would be able to bypass the compressor unit. Some superchargers have an off-boost bypass valve, getting you slightly better low rpm fuel mileage.

could install dumps and call it a day exhaust wise. run them closed when your not racing open them up when you are.
